I used to 'do' my working bearded collie. She looked a right mess after I had done her but it saved a few quid!

LT I love that you have 'a nose and an ear etc saved :)

Lucille I met a couple on the beach today with a west highland terrier (white one) which they said they cut themselves too - what I love about this site is the questioning of any purchase/service etc and thinking OK do I NEED TO PAY THAT??????

Before I accepted and just put on my CC

Just as well Martin is happily married - cos otherwise I think my stripey toe might just be turned by his money saving manners :)

    Hey I have news

I am going to be assessed for my dyslexia and to see how we can develop strategies to help me. Hurray

Slightly worried if being assessed means a soft padded room and a straight jacket when they discover how barking I really am.

But the main thing is it means a long weekend (paid by uni) down to see OH - and my pal is having a 50th birthday party which means I can go to that too :)

  • And of course it means I can do a real 'stripey socks shop top up' as I didn't do much when on holiday. Just a few bits :)

Gah - you lot with pooches are lucky. Cats are an altogether different proposition when they for whatever reason need bathing......

Picture the scene if you will. A saturday afternoon, at our old flat. MrEH has gone off to run around a muddy field with a load of other chaps (nothing kinky, just rugby) and Her Majesty - the cat - sidles in through the door looking a little sheepish (if indeed a cat can look sheepish - surely that ought to be reserved for sheep?). A quick stroke of the aformentioned cat reveals the reason for the uneasy expression - as she absolutely STANK, REEKED AND HONKED of diesel. How a cat gets herself covered in diesel lord alone knows. Needless to say, cat immediately sets to to start washing herself......er no, thinks I - THAT's not a good plan. So I grab the cat by the scruff of the neck and then think "what now then". Hmmm. Ring the vets I think - obviously still clutching the cat in one hand so a bit tricky, but do-able. "Well so long as she doesn't lick it off she'll be fine - errr...you'll need to bath her though......" Oh deep DEEP joy. Drag cat into bathroom, start running water into bath - at which point the cat starts to smell a rat. I can't imagine how, as frankly all I could smell was wretched diesel. ;) Eventually the time comes to get the cat into the bath - do you have ANY idea how w-i-d-e a cat can make itself when it's trying to avoid being submerged? Hah - not wide enough, I can tell you! By this stage I had adopted a sort of death-grip on Her Majesty's neck in a frantic bid for self-preservation, being, as I am, quite fond of the skin covering my hands and arms...... The cat did eventually emerge clean and fragrant, and me miraculously unscathed, but both of us swearing that the whole palaver would never, EVER, be repeated!

Give me a dog any day - MUCH easier!

    Hi Fay

Good luck with the assessment - make sure you ask questions that you want answered too!

Have a lovely weekend with OH and at the party!
