Morning All, how is everyone?
Angelflower, I wanted to be a vet but didn't get the grades. I wanted to study at Glasgow Uni though. Is there still a big rivalry between the uni's?
Fay, in the end when your kids have grown up they'll remember you were there for them and made sacrifices so they didn't miss out and went out your way to make sure they were happy and well adjusted. Its your ex thats missing out by not helping out.....missing out in the long run. Your new bed is lovely by the way. I don't know why some people scoff at freecycle I think its fab (just gave away my Tesco for schools vouchers as youngest is 'too embarassed' to take them into her school).
Had a few amazing finds in the charity shop this morning. A black and silver stripey skirt! Perfect for summer (although its raining here today ), Prince Purple rain vinyl (sad?), and a gorgeous crystal basket which I'll put away for my Grandmother's birthday. Got OH into looking too he's slowly coming round to my way of thinking :rotfl:
Tackled the garden last night. Any easy ways of reclaiming my flower bed from grass its kind of over grown and through 3 plants which I'd like to save. Also need to repot my Acer but not sure I've left it too late? Also wondering whether I really need to use peat free soil to repot it? If I do it means buying some. Fay, what do you suggest?
Got my cake boxes for my wedding. Youngest wasn't interested at all! I got them in Poundland of all places!CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. On Saturday we are having a walk in the botanic gardens followed by cocktails at Harvey Nicks and then an italian - suspecting not cheap (best not factor in the flight costs) - need to book that today - gulp.
May must be a less expensive month.

Have a fab time Fay, Harvey Nicks is lovely! Not sure about Italian places but there's a nice seafood restaurant called Fishers not too far from Harvey Nicks.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. Flight is booked and I am sorted childrenwise so all systems are go
OH picking me up having to fly to Aberdeen though as no flight home from ed on sunday - left it too late probably whoops - oh well.
Uni x well done on cakes boxes poundland does indeed sound very handy- freecycle rocks! as well
Tackled the garden last night. Great!
Any easy ways of reclaiming my flower bed from grass its kind of over grown and through 3 plants which I'd like to save.
Ok two solutions - either dig up the plants you want to save and tuck them into something and water them - then get some round up or similar branded weedkiller (gyphosate based) and spray it all over grass - should kill it in a wee while - then it (the grass) can be dug in or dug out and chucked into compost/green bin and you can replant your plants
You can do the round up thing by not digging out the plants and putting a bucket over them whilst you spray - BUT to be honest unless there's no grass in amoungst your plants the grass will not all be killed and will come back - so if it were me I'd do the first option.
Round up is one of the friendliest weedkillers once it hits the soil its completely inert - its normally pretty cheap too and you can buy ready made spray stuff usually unbranded - just make sure is chemical ingredient is glyphosate.
OR no chemical approach - dig out plants (make sure no grass roots in the plants) , dig out grass replace plants.
Also need to repot my Acer but not sure I've left it too late? Also wondering whether I really need to use peat free soil to repot it? If I do it means buying some. Fay, what do you suggest?
Acer just be careful and repot it keep making sure its nice and watered- no need for special compost - x - if its in full leaf when you repot it pop it into some shade to help it out.
Dont mess about with roots etc too much just get a bigger pot - make sure theres enough room and compost and plonk it in and repot it.
I know they will appreciate it all later on (kids) but sometimes I just think - come on mate pull your weight.
niavely optimistic
ps well done on the bargains!Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.

Hi Fay, love, love the bed it reminds me of my grandma. Have a good trip to the mainland and enjoy yourself. For the childrens trip to France can you make it that ex-OH has to find an extra £100 to cover the costs?
Just bought a sweet pea plant suitable for hanging baskets, £1.20, 12 caulis £1.00 some nasturtiums (I know I can grow them but haven't seen any seed) and a few other plants but can't remember what they are.

L I can try - BUT he doesnt give us maintenance never mind general assistance - I am funding the trip to france this year - he would pay for their flights as I refuse to - I never moved to france (?!) - but he wont pay for me to bring them over - its a self funded stripey socks adventure.
Somehow or other he's not too keen that I come with them -
I can imagine it will be drive for a week and handover at the gate posts no entry to little ex wives. I dont suppose I'd get a glass of water if I was dying of thirst - must mind on bring my own water.
oh well
Nice idea though!
I have heard of these sweetpeas - I am growing some dwarf ones - (maybe the same kind...) nice sounding plants you have there.
PS sorry if I sound so down about it all and bitter - sometimes I jsut get a bit cross. Stripey socked foot tapping kinda cross - then I shrug and think hey ho - ebay here I come with my little plants - and my teramundi is getting heavy.
(flower power will get us to france - I know its a silly idea but it will be a real adventure for us all)
All will be OK - just annoying - must list ebay plants.......Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.
