Neighbour keeps feeding my dog

How about putting the dog onto a chain so that he can't get as far as the fence and therefore can't reach the treats, if the layout of your garden will allow that.
He wouldn't be happy chained up after having the run of the yard and honestly I wouldn't be happy chaining him either. The neighbour is the kind that would probably report me for being cruel to my dog anyway!0 -
Every day I read this stuff and think no I'm not going to get upset.......why did you ever get a dog?? Your neighbour is showing the dog some affection and your whole tone is so aggresive...I was going to suggest you chat to the neighbour - what is the point - what do you want people to say...you have already decided whatever action you want to take.0

He can be outside for 5 minutes and she will appear and feed him, This has happened at weekends when we are home all day, so it's not restricted to when we are at work.UKTigerlily wrote: »The ideal solution would IMO be for the Dog to be inside, the OP would be happy as it wouldn't be fed, the Dog would be warm/er & not gaining weight.
As I said before, he doesn't do well inside if we are out, he gets bored and chews everything. Result= chewed furniture, unhappy family and a sick dog. Not to mention the cost of repairs/replacement furniture and decor.0 -

I'm angry at the suggestion that I should leave my job to stay at home and mind my dog. I'm angry because the neighbour is feeding my dog without my consent and as a result is risking his health. I care about him and I don't want him to end up with a serious illness due to being given food which may have a detrimental affect on his health, thus resulting in hefty vets fees for me and my family to pay.
I asked for advice on the situation and how to help deal with it, not to come on here and get slated because I have to go to work to pay my bills instead of babysitting my dog.0 -
Some people on here are a bit off today, OP id politely talk to the neighbour and ask her not to feed the dog anymore biscuits, tell her the dogs got diabetes or is on the verge of it and the dog can only eat certain foods0

Yeah that's what I mean, you didn't come for advice on stopping the chewing, but the neighbour so that's what we need to focus on. I think you'll have to be harsh on the neighbour i'm afraid0 -
My friend has recently had this same problem with her neighbour feeding her cat, (she was even buying king prawns & fresh salmon for the cat) result the cat got fat and won't go outside as soon as you open the door it goes straight over and sits on the neighbours doorstep waiting to be let in and fed.
My friend took cat for annual vaccinations and the vet pointed out that the cat needed to lose weight, she told the neighbour this and exagerated a bit by saying vet had said cat would end up diabetic (not yet been hit by the lightening bolt for lying!!!) and as a result cat no longer gets treats from neighbour anymore and also does more exercise as now spends time popping round to see orther houses to try and get treats from them. (they all know about the diet so cat not getting any treats but doesn't stop her trying);):o:rolleyes:;):o:o:cool:

I pay my bills and stay home with my dogs. Should I really be made to feel bad because I look after all my animals properly?! I'm thinking of starting a business so I can have more money but still be at home and my hubby works from home, it can be done, you don't necessarily have to give up work, just adjust your life to fit your dog.0
