Also for the bank and the staff point of view, AML law requires them to report it if they think it is suspicious activity. It is an offence not to report it if you believe a transaction suspicious.0

OP - As advised you are going to have to prove where the money came from as you have made large cash deposits firstly in Natwest then Barclays. As mentioned proof of sale of property abroad would be a start.0

All the OP asked was if we knew why her money was taken, we've established that so best to leave her to get on with things - who cares if it sounds dodgy or if she has kids/is on benefits!
