I have borderline personality disorder, recurrent depressive disorder , dissociative amnesia and also suffer from hallucination and paranoia/delusions .
i agree with you point many point the attitude of some mental healh staff left a lot to be desire. I had soem who refuse to approach me as i am told to be treatment resistant or difficult to manage !
like you i have also problem in social places to the point i don't go out unless i really need too and with supervision .. i ended up geting lost all the time and in a confused states .
My day has to very organised as i cannot cope with new situation and like you too i live in fear and this is extremely hard to live with.
not many people do not know what is BPD or what is like to live with it unless yo have ti or live with someone who has it
I can relate to you a lot in regards to the attitude of mental heath staff. i feel like they've labelled me with BPD and written me off. I also have a recurrent depressive disorder (you're the only other person i've encountered with the same diagnosis-its not just me!)
Do you get any help/support with your BPD? I know someone else with it who has social worker/cpn/support etc whereas i'm only being given help for my depression, which annoys the hell out of me as its often the BPD symptoms which interfere with my life the most yet they won't give me any support. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. my other half has just had another (minor) stroke...
he is out of hospital now and his meds are changing again:rolleyes:
he also suffers:
depression - made worse by other medical problems
serious problems with spine (arthritus (sp) and degenarative discs). had first lot of spinal surgery (after waiting 7yrs) in march 2009 and now the consultant is worried about upper areas (neck) so he was due to see that consultant yesterday but missed appt due to stroke...
diabetic
three operations on hands for carpal tunnel
sleep apnea - although not confirmed (his dad has it and i am sure that he does too - i sleep next to him)
a few weeks ago we found out that his testosterone level was only 1.2 most men are 10+ so he has been to see specialist about this and has been warned that he may have a 'growth' in his pituatry gland..
so at the moment he is on: asprin, warferin, co-codomal, amyltryptiline, citilopram, tramadol, mst, liquid morphine, ibuprofen, actos, other diabetic drugs and the cod liver oil and vitamins that i give him...
he does sort out his own tablets but i have to make two coffees so that he can take them all..
crazy - he is only 43 - if he had been with me for 20 yrs he would not have so many problems - his diet was awful until 2yrs ago - i think that a good diet and not being 'made' to earn money to satisfy money driven girlfriends would have reduced / delayed these problems. BUT now i am here and having known him as a friend for 15yrs i would never leave him now.
he thinks that i deserve better and that is where arguments stem from - but i do love him - just wish i could make him understand that i don't get cross because i am cross with him - i get cross on behalf of him.........it's nice to be important but more important to be nice!! :kisses3:0 -
