Rant Alert : Item Removed From Ebay

im so p***** of with ebay.
i have had an item removed from ebay due to me wanting cash on delivery and asking people not to pay with paypal.
this is part of the email:

We appreciate that you chose eBay to list your auction-style listing(s). However, we have removed your listing because it breached our Accepted Payments policy. We notified members who placed bids on the item that the listing has been canceled.

400028016913 - MACLAREN TWIN TRAVELLER DOUBLE/TWIN BUGGY/PUSHCHAIR

Why did we remove your listing?

Your listing(s) contains the following information:

DO NOT PAY WITH PAYPAL!!!!

Sellers must always accept payment from buyers through the payment methods they have selected in their Payment Details section of their listing, including PayPal. They must not act in any way to discourage buyers from paying by one of the methods that they offer.

i know ebay own paypal but they do my head in with there stupid little rules. sah on pick up is better for me and better for my customer as they know they will definitly recieve it.
i have had someone get a refund off me ages ago through paypal after they picked the item up and 3 weeks later they said it was damaged and paypal refunded them!
also , there was only 3 days left on the auction so now ive got it in the house for another 2 weeks
im seriously thinking of leaving ebay

rant over
mmmm free stufffffffff :p

well quite simply thats the rules
if you want the visibility of ebay then you need to follow the rules
if not then use gumtree/local free ads
  • i know its the rules but its a stupid rule and it still doesnt make me feel any better

The collection issue is something that worries a number of sellers, and the reason why many of us choose not to use ebay any more for high end items that need collection.

Whilst paypal must be accepted on a collected item if it is offered it is not safe, so the only way to fully protect yourself is to find another venue.

Most buyers would be happy to pay cash on collection so a quick email after auction ends making arrangements for that is fine. The problem is that we don't need to protect ourselves against these honest buyers we need to protect ourselves against spammers and they are the ones who will be insisting on using paypal.

You can relist but you cannot say you prefer cash on collection, all you can do is list it as an option and buyer gets to choose how to pay.

I remember looking at the items I'd listed one day only to go back half an hour later to find they'd disappeared! The reason was that I hadn't listed Paypal as a payment method. I re-listed the items showing Paypal (although I wasn't really happy about it), however, to be fair, all the items I was selling were 'postable'. For something like a pushchair, sofa, bed, etc, however, I do think there should be the option to request cash on collection only.

And, before some of you shoot me down in flames, I know that:

    a) It's my choice if I want to sell on Ebay or not and accept their terms if I do
    b) I know that Paypal offers you a form of protection should anything got t*ts up.

Still unfair though...*Birdy shuffles away grumbling to herself*
It's wouldn't have not wouldn't of, shouldn't have not shouldn't of and couldn't have not couldn't of. Geddit?

Have you tried selling items on www.netmums.co.uk. The site has local boards with no fees, i'm in London and have sold loads of items on there, but other local boards might not be as well used

dont use the word "cash"..i had listings removed coz of that. I now say,"good old pounds sterling on collection is favoured" it seems to get by the word checkers! never had one removed since.
you can even put it in a large coloured font, the just put Paypal in tiny letters after it!!
TO FINISH LAST, FIRST YOU HAVE TO FINISH....
