Cut back on our original plan of the caribbean, then we were planning a cheapo holiday which we will hang fire on until late summer and probs book last minute.
Def going to Spain, despite the value of the £ its worth it as we're both smokers and cna technically pay for our holiday with the cash we'll save on duty free0 -
I feel like I need a holiday to get away from the doom and gloom!
Going to wait until late August/September and hopefully off to Vegas for a couple of weeks.0 -
Opportunity to see a lot more of the British Isles. Trouble is, the hotels and self catering cottages are going to be full of europeans and people from the states making the most of their stronger currencies.
Muh ahhahaahha. I had the presence of mind to book a self catering chalet in NW Scotland for June 2009 back in November 2008.
I wouldn't call it cutting back though - we like homemade holidays!

Not having a holiday abroad this year as busy saving for a house deposit.

I've always find it interesting that views on holidays can be so polarised. I suspect (like so much else) its mannifested in ones' upbringing.
For me, a great holiday abroad is a nice treat rather than an absolute necessity. I get chronic SAD and and a coast lover who lives in the midlands, so by all rights I should be a holiday stalwart, but I'm not that bothered.
I like travelling abroad and experiencing different cultures, climates and cuisines but I'm not one of those people that has to have 2 weeks in the sun booked by the end of feb every year.
Last year, Mr P and I forgoed (is that even a word) travelling abroad for a new bathroom, but we treated ourselves to several long weekends away in the UK which were all brilliant; a stay at Feather Down Farms in Devon, a few days at Loch Lomond, Cardiff (for the cheese festival), Lyme Regis for an event at River Cottage and Pembrokeshire for a New Year getaway with friends. Probably ended up spending more than we would have on a package to the med but it was brilliant.
This year we're reining it in even more and hoping for a hot one so we can vacate by the water down here on Tha Wharf...0 -
last year 3 weeks 4-5 star travelling around Thailand, a week in France in a villa of our own and a few weekends in Wales, Cotswolds and 2 weeks 5 star Maldives for our honeymoon which was more than amazing
THis year - a few weekends away in Scotland and Cotswolds and thats it so far... was thinking about going to Maldives before baby comes along but as made redundnat hubby has suggested no holiday OR Greece or Croatia...0 -
No we're not cutting back on our holiday. Really looking forward to doing our West USA and New York trip in the summer. I'm enjoying the planning and my 2 teens and hubby just nod happily in the knowledge that they don't have to do anything!
As long as we can afford holidays without going in debt - we will. I have found that the last couple of years there's been a sense of panic for me as I'm dreading the day the children say they don't want to holiday with us. Although I have a feeling that as long as we're not doing 2 weeks at the beach, they'll tag along, thanks to the Bank of Mum and Dad.0 -
We've had UK holiday for the past few years and have had brilliant times.. the highland, south west, wales etc. There not always that much cheaper than going away but this year we plan to do more camping.
We've messed up tho..we bought a new tent last year after spotting it at a tent fair. We ordered on line and picked it up from the DHL depot in the OH's mini. The bloody case hardly fits on the back seat.. look at the size of this monster ... http://www.outwell.dk/TentMeasure.aspx?b=Outwell&bid=2&lid=1&l=en-GB&TentId=189&catID=32&pid=1
Theres only 2 of us!!! It didn't look so big next to the other tents in the huge field! We're talking of getting a new car to accommodate it or selling it unused and getting a smaller one.:rotfl:£2019 in 2019 #44 - 864.06/20190 -
That is the size of a small planet. I figure, once you've got it ... erected .. you can create your own territory and declare war on all other campers.butterfly72 wrote: »... It's big enough for an army.
Seriously, I've just checked out the measurements and it's genuinely the size of my studio flatlet!
It's 9.8 feet x 24 feet !!0
