Is anyone cutting back their holidays this year?

Just got back from the US (one week in California, two weeks skiing in Colorado). Have denied husband's request for a second ski trip this year (he wanted either Colorado again or Whistler): I want to save money and see if anything comes of trying to sell the house.

Will definitely go SOMEWHERE in the Summer: maybe a cruise, probably back to California, maybe a side trip to Las Vegas. Not sure yet - very "up in the air".

I love travel - wouldn't want to not go on holiday (can't rely on any reasonable weather at home... ).

Two weeks on a tropical island.

Plenty to celebrate this year and this is how I'm doing it. Hurrah!

No, but I'm moaning about it more.

off next week to my tenth -ish holiday this last 12months.. but hey i dont drink and i can afford it so why not..
It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.

just back from berlin - it was eye wateringly expensive given the weakness of the pound.

when our flight back got cancelled and we suffered a 29 hour delay because of the snow at heathrow, i was beginning to wish we had cut back on our holidays this year! the extra night in a hotel and two extra taxi journeys between tegel and the hotel were not cheap!

In the last thread I said "probably not, unless I win a load of money or a free holiday".

Today I found out that I've won some free flights. Guess I just might go on holiay then...
  • We won't be having a holiday this year but not because of the recession. Just because a holiday with a 1 and 2 year old isn't much of a holiday! As a 2 week holiday in Spain when our eldest was 3 months old taught us. Didn't like the sun, didn't like being in the shade, didn't like the cot, didn't like being out while we ate dinner, spending money on a meal out when we had to take turns wheeling the pram round the block and getting indigestion from eating at top speed when she went into meltdown while waiting for relaxed waiters to get us the bill...

Totally know where you are coming from. Have been there and am glad the kids are a bit bigger!

Am heading off to Vegas with the company credit card (and no I am not Gordon Brown)...
If i win I will get a nice fat bonus, if I lose then I will go to the government for yet another bail out.
Forget about Vegas, I fancy a flutter on the stock market, £1 million red!
Can someone please explain the difference?

I am waiting for the Euro to blow apart, so probably go to Spain for a cheap holiday
