Evening all
I've just got back from the gym - I ran about 5.3km on the treadmill non-stop. :j It was hard going though, and I'm a bit scared about the 10k now.
It suddenly seems like a huge task and I think I've hit a bit of a psycological barrier. Do any of you other runners get that when you are wanting to increase your distances?"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -

Im not sure telling children the whole truth about debts is the right way to go either. I think most children work it out for themselves when you don't have money. I remember never having much as a child, never got new clothes unless it was christmas. We never nagged our parents for stuff because it was just a known fact we were poor and couldn't afford it. I never had any idea the true extent of how poor my parents were at one point...one christmas my mum didn't have any money for presents so she knitted us a cover for a new hot water bottle. She says now it was the worst day of her life but you know what, not one of us remembers it so it just goes to show they must have made up for it in other ways.
Sorry got a bit waffly there, you have to do whats right for your family and situationI'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change and breakaway ....

Its hard snaggs...it is all in the mind a lot of the time. The thing is that on the treadmill you have the option to stop at any time. When you are 4 miles from home you have 2 options, keep going or walk home. I think if you set yourself a target for the next couple of weeks. Next week I think you should increase your distance to 5.7km. What sort of speed are you going? You might find you are going too fast, take the slow plod thats my way forwardI'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. we didn't really know what was going on debt wise with my parents when we were kids, we didn't have much money and didn't ask for things, and i know we moved from the south to the north so that we could afford to live after dad's accident and health problems. mum did sit me down with a note book when i was old enough to do my own finances but i was in my mid teens by that stage.0

My kids know I have debts but chose to ignore it. Not their problem after all and they have lives to live.0

Thanks Sally
I think you've hit the nail on the head there - treadmill running is working for me short term, because it means I can keep going during winter when otherwise I would have problems with asthma. But I think it's harder psycologically than running outside for the reasons you said. The temptation to stop is unbearable sometimes, even when my legs aren't that tired.
My speed is really really slow - about 4.5mph, which I think is just over 13 minute miles. I'm not even sure that qualifies me as a plodder....just a bouncy walker lol."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250
