You can only set it to count up to whatever time you set. I would rather be able to set the distance I want to run and see it count down, but there's no option to do that.

I wondered whether to just put 45 mins worth of 'running songs' on my mp3 player and try not to look at the screen at all - but I can't help looking! :o

I found on the treadmill that the right songs made a big difference - Killers Human is fab for running. sometimes I found running too slow was harder on the joints (not that I'm fast) but you just find something that you are comfortable with IMO (not medical fact).:D

beanie have a great time! safe journey!!

Snags, i am slower than that when running on land!!! tready's do make you go faster than you might otherwise do... maybe drop to 4mph for the middle section and you'll manage to get going longer......
I was running at about 4 mph outside too - but on the treadmill it feels too slow and I keep bumping into the front bar! :rotfl: I could try to do a slower middle section and see if that helps.

I know I'm just being too hard on myself thinking I can't do the 10k because I'm struggling with 5k. It's silly really, it's only my 3rd run since starting again (Did I already say that? Or am I just having deja vue? Think I'm a bit spaced out lol!), and when I originally started running last year, I could only run for about 10 minutes, whereas tonight I ran for 45 (including warm up and cool down).

When is the 10K Snaggs? June? if so you've loads of time and it's much easier to build up from 5 to 10K than 0 to 5K. I'm currently trying to work out how many weeks I've got till May to do one myself!

Is this a gym treadie?? Have you asked whether it counts down mileage? Im suprised it doesn't. If it doesn't you have to put a towel over the screen, listen to music and DO NOT remove said towel until it tells you, you have finished ;):p
I haven't asked but it's a really simple control panel - there's 'time', 'speed' and 'incline' which all have up/down buttons under them, but distance doesn't - it just literally shows how far you have run, with no option to set anything.

Good idea about the towel - I might try that - ohhhhh but I will peep! :rotfl:

snags you are being way too hard on yourself...having only run 3 times you need to get back into it slowly. Break the weeks down until the 10k run and aim to have run that distance by 3-4 weeks before hand. Just increase your mileage slowly but also you need to get back outside when you can

Yes, I think it's the 21st June or something. Which one are you running? I'm doing RFL in May as a practice run before the Leeds one.

I hope you're right about building up the distance. If I aim to get to 6k by the end of Feb maybe, then 7k end of March, 8k end of April, 9k end of May.....then just hope I can manage that bit more on the day?

arrrgghhh, have worked out that the cheap, local 10K is on the only day I've booked an overnight stay for work in years... could come home but then I'd have to drive 100miles home and 100 back the next day...
