    Looking for some advice please.

My TV is dying and needs to be replaced. I don't watch TV - the TV is only used by my daughter- and have completely lost touch with what to buy.

I have a budget of around £300 (could go over if necessary). Daughter would like built in freeview. I would like some kind of warranty & delivery if possible. Also need advice about stands.

I am looking for a good but not too expensive ( a good tv for little money) tv between 46-50" screen to go on the wall.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance

  • Apologies if this has been spotted already, but argos have the Samsung LE37B650 for £629 at the moment. They also have a £100 off voucher Samsung 6 series TV voucher valid until 10/1/2010. This means you can get it for £529 which is £100 less than the nearest rival I could find on the shopping searches.

On top of that I noticed they printed the price as £599 in their sales pamphlet dished out before Xmas so I went back in and got my £30 back. So all in it cost £499 for a Full HD TV, 100Hz and with built-in internet connectivity and media player (via an ethernet connector). Only downside is its in-store only and there is only 1 left near me so who knows how many are left nationally.

Search for part no. 5293960 for the 37" model. The 40" is £599 after the voucher btw which is also cheap (and too big for my lounge). The link for the £100 off voucher is at the bottom of the product page.

Overall I'm pleased with this TV but note the following:
    • Download the latest firmware from Samsung as the media player didn't play divx files over a network until I upgraded.
    • Push all the connectors in fully - had an annoying intermittent buzzing sound caused by the power connector not being in fully. The slots are stiff (be careful how hard you do push though).
    • If playing sound on external speakers via the TV then there is a lag between them and the internal speakers causing a slight echo. This is fixable by going into the service menu. There are instructions on how to do this on the web somewhere, can look for if requested.
    • The picture is great but indeed the sound could be better. I have an external amp though so I don't care, especially when it has all the extra goodies like the media player, 100Hz etc.
Cheers and hope this helps someone,

    Roger

I got a Samsung LE26B450 for kids' room and it's excellent. We've got a Panasonic for main TV and we all prefer the Samsung. Each to his own.

Couldn't see that at Currys. I bought this 19" Samsung for £149 from Dabs for Mother in Law.

what a load of rubbish. I would suggest checking things out for yourself before passing it on as "knowledge". Have you noticed that Samsung TVs seem to make up the majority of demo setups when you go to specialist retailers? both with & without an accompanying Audio setup.

    HTH ;)
Probably more to do with them being Samsung Account holders than tv's sound quality.
