Richer Sounds sell the LE32B450 for £319.95. I believe they price match in-store prices as well as online prices [at least I think it's online prices as well]. Anyway, find out first how much they sell the DVD for [if they sell it that is] and see if they'll price match John lewis's price. It might also be a good idea to phone a John Lewis store as well to double check their prices before price matching at Richer Sounds.
And don't forget, the DVD player is this one.
Don't know if these will help in your quest for a bargain but have a look anyway.

We're struggling to get to grips with the lingo but are looking for a decent 40-42" which will fit in our alcove! Currently shortlisted the Toshiba 42XV635DB, Sharp LC40LE600 and the Sony KDL40W5500 which are all in our price bracket.
Anyone got any feedback on these or any other recommended tv's?
Thanks!:o0 -

Your going for 3 decent brands there so it would just be personal preference, personally I'm a Sony nut so would go for that but my Nanna has the smaller Toshiba and the picture is fab.
I know it's a bit smaller but the Toshiba 40LV665DB is on sale at £429 at Comet, I don't know how cheap you've found the 42 inch for but doing a quick comparision between the two there seems to be no difference other than the size and it's about £230 cheaper (you probably need to act quickly if this is the one you want as most stores only have enough stock of it to last until the weekend)
Hope this helps you :j
xxxxJust started cashback-ing - makes me feel less guilty when I impulse buy!0 -
Thanks for the advice - went back to the shops and ended up getting the Toshiba 42" (the 40" you suggested, has a lower hz so we thought we'd spend more as we're hoping not to get another tv for about 10 years!).
Ordered it online at dixons for £599 through the nectar www so we could earn points on it too! Can't wait for it to arrive next week :T0 -
Picked up a Sony KDL40W5500 just before Christmas - it's now £30 cheaper (doh!) - from Dixons online. Brilliant telly, shame about the service from Dixons. They were meant to take my old TV away, which I paid extra for, but didn't, and the one man who delivered it (should have been a two man crew) just lumped it around and dumped it in my hall way! Still, can't find any dents or breakages with it and they did come and pick up the old one last week in the end. So, Dixons were very poor but the TV is great. There were backlight issues with this model but I assume they have been fixed in later iterations (my box was labelled 11/09 so assume the TV was made in Novemeber) as I have no problems. I have set the backlight to a lower setting though and there are some decent alternative settings that can be found around the Net.
Get this TV and get some HD channels to feed it - you won't be disappointed!
Cheers.

not sure if this is the right place to post this(im new)
i did work experience in john lewis electrical department
and the sales peoples where telling me to avoid samsung tv's becuse the sound is rubbish and i really noticed it when we compared it to other tv's hth someone
what a load of rubbish. I would suggest checking things out for yourself before passing it on as "knowledge". Have you noticed that Samsung TVs seem to make up the majority of demo setups when you go to specialist retailers? both with & without an accompanying Audio setup.

Actually a lot of reviews i've read do comment on the sound, its generaly the only downside thats mentioned. But there does seem to be a consistancy with the sound and how many are saying it doesnt compaire to a lot of the other tvs out there.
My friend has the Sam LE50A530 and he too said the sounds just does have that bass. He got a sounds system for it, and said its a lot better.0 -
