Is this a good tv to get? My mum is getting it for my niece for Christmas and she wanted to spend £300 for a 32" so I think this should be ok...

Don't know what that TV is like in terms of pic etc. - obviously a big thing... 2 HDMI connectors means you can connect 2 bits of kit with that connector (most modern things seem to have now) on a good quality connection. The lack of a SCART socket might mean you can't get a good quality connection for some older kit.
If the freeview recorder's any good (don't know that brand) it's a nice bonus. They are v useful to have - assuming you use freeview not Sky - you'd be paying over £50 for a decent on (I paid more like £100 for mine).0 -
Samsung LE32B450C4W LCD HD Ready Digital Television, 32 Inch now comes with free Samsung DVD-H1080 DVD Player - £349 altogether (in-store only) at John Lewis's.
Appears only a saving of about £19 effectively as Richer Sounds are still selling the LE32B450 for £319.95. Still a good deal I suppose for some.0 -

I'm not very tech savvy, but I reckon this is an excellent price for a 42" plasma LG.
I bought one during the summer and it cost me over £600Come ride with me, through the veins of history...

Did anyone else order the LG 32" LCD from cdiscount discussed here a few weeks back ? I got it for an amazing 228 ( 270 less new customer discount ) but they have had my money for over 3 weeks now and no TV. They just say they are awaiting stock but I have the feeling that it may change to a no stock available at some point.

I know you don't get the 5 year warranty and DVD player, but it might be of some interest.
I got the 26" version of this last week. Cashback tracked within the day, and I'm really pleased with the TV.0 -
Would anyone match the tv with free dvd player do you think? No John Lewis near me0

I bought the 32 inch Samsung LE32B450 instore at John Lewis in Cribbs Causeway (Bristol) with their five year guarantee for £299 on Monday (9.11.09).
(Sorry about about the late posting but I've only just come across this thread by chance.)
The label on the shelf display gave the price as £319 (no mention of a "free" DVD player - which I didn't need anyway) but at the till it came up as just £299. No negotiating or price-matching involved - I was happy to find it at £319 given the long guarantee (not that I complained about paying only £299).
At the time the salesperson said they had "plenty" in stock. (Obviously, phone the store to check the current stock level and price if you don't want to risk a wasted journey.) I've no idea whether other JL branches would have this at the same price or price match - it's strange that it was, and still is, £349 on the John Lewis website.
I'm pretty sure I also saw the Sony KDL32S5500 instore for £349 (with 5 year guarantee) whereas it's £429 on the website (There is a £50 trade-in available online - not mentioned instore that I noticed.). I wasn't paying much attention to the prices of the other televisions (the Samsung was at the top of my shortlist if cheap enough so no reason to look any further). Maybe it's normal for John Lewis to sell TVs instore cheaper than online.0
