Yes, and they fully support FPS so you can have it in and out in a day if your other bank fully supports FPS too.

    Cheers, Des.

    Thanks for your answer Des.

I like the look of their regular saver isa for the next tax year and will need to become a current account customer.

Now I know I can avoid monthly charges I will apply for it.

first direct rated very highly in a recent Which? survey, I seem to remember.

Are you sure about the Direct Debits? I have a few on my list that haven't ever had a payment taken from them....

I thought it was the case but I couldn't swear by it, so I may be wrong there.

If you decide to go ahead and open an account, in addition to £100 sign up fee from 1st Direct, you can also get £75.00 cashback from WePromiseTo cashback site if you sign up by linking through them, unfortunately I missed that incentive when I joined 1st Direct :(

Easy to register with WePromiseTo if your not a member already and if you join via clicking this link I will earn £1.00 for recommending you ;-)

I just signed up and there is no sign of an offer for First Direct?

    Cheers, Des.

I have just signed up with them for a mortgage and opened a current account and five savings accounts. My only bug bear is that I would like to be able to give my accounts nick names so that they are identifiable. If Halifax and Nationwide can do it can't see why FD can't. However, csa today did say quite a few people are asking for it so watch this space.

Do me a favour next time you speak to them ask them if you can have feedback issued requesting nick name capability.

kazd - there is alot of things FD don't do that every other bank in the UK/World does. You just have to deal with it.

They rarely change things and when they do, mainly for the worse not the better.

They're great if you want to speak to someone after 1 ring, but bar that they are mediocre at best.

Success is easy with simple formulas; it's easy to see why they make sure they don't do things every other bank does.

Thank God they don't! That's why they are so successful and get far less complaints than most other banks. The vast majority of customers are more than happy with them.

Unfortunately my pension payments mean I will fall just below the requirement amount to pay in. Does anyone know if I can get around this by drawing out £30pm and paying it back in by standing order?

Just been to check WePromiseTo and it looks like they have now withdrawn First Direct from their cashback "retailers" Darn, SiL is just about to open a FD account as well. The good news, OH opened an account a couple weeks ago with FD via WePromiseTo, and his cashback has now been validated so if anyone did get in while WPT had the offer, they should get their £75 cashback fairly soon.

Never mind FD are still giving the £100 joining incentive, but the extra £75 was rather nice :-))

I have been asking FD when they are going to update their website many times but just get the response that they receive lots of feedback. Such a shame that their clunky and featureless website does not match their sleek service.
