    Another question :)

Can you search for a cheque number? Mrs-DesG asked me if a cheque had been paid, and I had to manually check each statement looking for the cheque number.

    Cheers, Des.

No, I don't think you can do that, but as I only write cheques once in a blue moon it's not a facility that would be any use to me personally anyway.

1 or 2 a month here, mostly school related. So the lack of a search isn't a deal breaker, just thought I would ask as it was fresh in my mind :)

    Cheers, Des.

My account is currently showing 20 transactions. I have never counted before so I can't say if it's always that number, but the screen looks no more or less full than usual. You can also sort them by date -oldest first or most recent first, or by payments in or out, or size of payments or by payee etc. The default setting is most recent at the top.

If you click "View All" at the bottom of the main statement page it'll show many more transactions.

And if you want to find out whether a cheque has been paid... give them a call! It's a trivial job for them to find out if a cheque with a given number has debited an account, not more than 20 seconds I'd imagine. Saves trawling through statements... ;)

Thanks for that, I suppose I am so used to doing things online I always look there for the answer!

Thanks for that tip. I lost count after 100 transactions, but they go right back to the beginning of November. It will save me having to view statements if I want to check anything from the last couple of months.
  • I personally have found them to be excellent. On line banking is fine, better than A&L if you have used that at all.
Phone use is easy, no hurdles to jump so great all round.
    I would definately recommend them.

The only niggle I have with FD's internet banking is that new direct debits and standing orders, (or amendments to standing orders) don't show up on the system until the first payment goes through. It hasn't caused me any real problems though.

Is it possible to avoid the monthly charge by putting £1,500 in and then taking it out again every month?

Yes, and they fully support FPS so you can have it in and out in a day if your other bank fully supports FPS too.

Are you sure about the Direct Debits? I have a few on my list that haven't ever had a payment taken from them.

Standing orders, however... yeah, agree there. ;)
