If you purchased a new build property and found out that due to the angle of the garage it was impossible to park a car in it, what would you do?
Thanks!!
Thanks!!

How much of an angle are we talking about? It's not easy having a good time. Even smiling makes my face ache.0

Hmm tricky. My OH can resever into our garage without thinking about it. It takes me ages.

Depends on the angle, the car and the driver.
When you say "impossible" does that mean a smart car driven by a driving instructor couldn't use it?I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Hit head against brick wall for not having checked this before handing over my hard earned cash, especially if I had intended to keep my car in there. If you purchased a new build property and found out that due to the angle of the garage it was impossible to park a car in it, what would you do?

Caveat emptor!
There have been some garages built by developers that are so small that many cars won't fit in them anyway. Take a look down most streets - you won't find many cars are stored in garages anyway - most garages are stuffed full of junk.
In my road of about 100 houses, all with garages, only 2 of us actually use them to store our cars in."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
When I say impossible, I mean impossible
If you had a smartcar you wouldn't be able to put it in the garage. The garage faces the driveway at a 90 degree angle. The neighbours driveway opposite sits right infront so if they have their car parked in front of their garage we can't get ours in.
Even if they are away we still can't get in without going onto their driveaway (which is not shared) and really struggling.
The above poster is right, I should have checked. Silly me assumed that if the house had a garage we would be able to use it.
I know not many people use a garage to store a car in, but that's up to me. I should have the choice.
Poor planning if you ask me0 -
Is the garage fully detached.. or is it in some way built-in to the house, or sort of bolted on the side?0
-
But they can get into their garage without going on your drive?0
-
The garage is detatched and sits at the bottom of the garden (behind the garden fence)
well actually there's a parking space next to the garage and then the garage itself.
The house opposite can get into their garage without going onto our drive no problem.
It's hard to explain, I'll see if I can upload a photo0 -

now imagine the house opposite has a car sat infront of their garage
obviously the pic isn't to scale. The width of the driveway is just over the width of a car, so you can see it's impossible to get the car in due to the angle0 -
what is the rules in your deeds about access/pathways etc
was this information available when your solicitor did searches etc about access? did you buy it off plan
in your diagram, is the entrance you would use to put the car in, at the bottom of the diagram (ie next to your house) or at the top of the diagram?
is the show house, the equivilant of your neighbours house position?0
