    Hi all,
Late for me today...had to leave for work at 8 as I refused to take the car so we walked..good for us;)
    Today I have/will
    • Scratchcards....2 x 10p
    • Check banking
    • refund recieved from New Look...at last, I only returned the darn top on 14th Jan:mad:
    • £10 deposit refunded at last from Take a Break (what a fuss, had to send loads of id!)
    • Walk to work so saved petrol!
    • Post ebay/Amazon sales
    • NSD...(only budgetted spend)
Read on here that Sophiesmum does a bit of cleaning/housewor each day to save it all at the weekends...now that's a fab idea, why do I not do that??!! I don't do any all week, then have to spend my weekend catching up which I resent:mad:  So, will think about doing a little job each night so Sat afternoon isn't wasted cleaning the bathroom etc....:p
Luckily I've done it all this weekend so not really much to do!! But might have a quick dust/hoover of the lounge to keep it up together... Thanks to whoever mentioned it....:T
I really need to sort out a new signature!
  • Thanks Sophiesmum that's a real help. Think I need to get on to them about transferring credits now and go from there

What are you all doing your course's in? Sorry i'm so nosy, tell me off if i'm being too personal

I am starting one in March, it is just an openings course for now, "Understanding Children". I am hoping to build an open degree in Psychology and Childhood Studies. Already have Psychology A Level so was advised not to bother with the Psychology openings course - although I may do it anyway as my A Levels were 15 years ago  Already have a degree in History of Art but want to become a teacher - can't afford to take the pay cut that a PGCE would involve at the moment though.
  • Thanks lillian. Have you been told an Open degree is highly regarded generally and for teaching? I don't mean that in a horrible way I am genuinely just asking so I can try and decide which route to go down.

No not at all, I just don't want to leave it a long time (longer time?!) before I start studying again. I figured these were little bite sized courses that I could do almost at my leisure, and with an Open degree you can change the angle of the degree? It's not really so I'm more likely to get onto a PGCE but more for myself. Having said that I'm sure the different childhood courses will come in handy.

Are you hoping to become a teacher?
  • Thanks. No, i'm not brave enough to be a teacher. _pale_ I don't know what I want to do career wise, I have always swapped and changed my mind. I am interested in business and economics since I learnt about it in my HND but I have seen things on the OU website like spanish, counselling and creative writing which all sound appealing to me as personal interests and which may help guide me into a career.

Lillian, i did the understand children course, i actually really enjoyed it and it was beneficial for me as it was before i started working with children. I have enjoyed the O.U courses, the only one difficulty i found was if i did a level 2 course that was different to a level 1 course i had done, as it seemed a bit harder, but as long as you put the effort in, you soon make it up.

Well i have just finished making adjustments to my website and uploaded it onto the internet again, advertising pamper parties.

I have also received my fact finders pack from AC nielsen, so will have a look at that a mo.

I have also just found out that our new student is coming at the weekend now and will not be coming till 1st of March, which means i have three weeks without the extra money coming in and will be living completely on my own!! However i think i have enough food in for the month and it just means i will be out and about more in order not to use gas and elec at home. So, i'll take advantage more of the gym and library, plus at my gym they have free internet access, so i'm sure i will survive!

Sounds like a few of us have done the personal finance course!! I loved it, trust me, you will know most of the answers, cos it has a lot to do with what we all do on this site!

  • Phew all this talk of courses is making me very jealous!!
I am one of those people who love to learn.

Can I just ask one thing - the personal finances course - is it expensive ?
Excuse my ignorance. OU validated my degree but I attended UHI university to do it - they just stamped it.

Hugs Andan to the lack of lodger person this next couple weeks. Sounds like you are making a good plan to make the most of things!!
