  • Hi, I have been thinking about getting a shopping trolley (like the ones grannies use) but in a funky colour. That way i can use the market for fruit and veg as currently for 5 of us its just too heavy to carry even to the car from town. Then use the trolley couple of times a week to walk to the supermarket. Save money as will only be able to buy what i can fit in/need and save petrol.
Does anyone else use one of these or am i going to get the p**s taken out of me completely lol. My OH says as long as im not with him when i use it.
I reckon im gonna bring it back as a fashion item, or am i really behind? i live in the welsh hills so for al i know it could be the latest trend in London

Oh wow niftythrifty you are so right!! They really ARE becoming the latest trend in London!

I'm stunned and amazed to report that seriously trendy young things in Docklands and the city can now be seen with funky chic shoppers. How long before we have a range from Jimmy Choo!

I'm getting quite used to seeing them being wheeled into the towering glass cathedrals in docklands. The "look" appears to be dark business suit, heels, small handbag, brightly coloured silk scarf and a small, bright shopper. I even spotted someone with colour co-ordinated handbag and shopper heading into Waitrose in Canary Wharf.

The supermarkets look as if they are beginning to wake up to the fact that we need "shopper parks" as well as car parks for those who do not want to take their shopper round the supermarket with them. I've spotted a couple of places now where one of the in-shop wire trolley ranks has had a couple of shoppers parked in them, probably unofficially but we have to start somewhere. They've tend to be near the security guards so I guess it works ok.

What do you all do with your shoppers when you are on a supermarket shop, hang it on the back of the wire trolley, plonk it in the trolley and pile your shopping around it or have any of you found somewhere to park your shoppper while you shop?
My first reply was witty and intellectual but I lost it so you got this one instead :D
Proud to be a chic shopper

Have no idea what they are
I hang mine on the hook on the trolley - it's an IKEA black patterned one. Generally I use it for local shopping - especially the greengrocer - and use jute bags for the supermarket as I usually have the car there.

I have seen a few IKEA ones in Belfast now - especially at the farmers' market

I always get appreciative looks from old ladies when I have my Ikea Orange trolley with me, and they have their tartan ones...

    Hello everyon,

Well I finally managed to get my hubby to buy me a trolley the other week! It was from a shop called Savers, plain black and only 7.99! I have already used a few times now when I go into town, and to do my weekly shopping with it. It is fantastic, really don't know how I managed with out, no more arm, hand or backache from carrying all those bags! Since I have beeen using it I have seen so many more people using theirs! I don't care that I am only 29, I love my trolley! My husband has told me I am not allowed to use it in his presence :) , and my sister has laughed at me.
