Have only just found this thread, couldn't do without my trolley! I've just got a rather plain green tartan one, I love the sound of the cow/zebra print funky ones!
Yesterday I took some stuff to the tip in it, then filled up with shopping on my way home. I usually take it to my local supermarket rather than in town as they are a bit of a hazard for other people's ankles. I hang it on the bag hook on the supermarket trolley, or just put it in the trolley when I go round the supermarket.
My tip would be don't get one with a drawstring round the top, I had to replace my previous one just because the material had split at the top , just under the drawstring and it wasn't the sort of material you can sew up.
Mind you I got caught out the first time I used my new one which is bigger, I got carried away and bought way too much stuff, I'm sure my arms were inches longer by the time I got home!
As a rule I find mine holds about £30 worth of standard groceries, if I spend any more I struggle home.

    Thanks both for your replies.
Bargain Rzl, has the black and pink one got a drawstring and does the handle adjust or is it fixed? Poor you having to drag it up all those stairs:eek: bet you need a cuppa after that lot. I've done my fair share of dragging heavy groceries upstairs, the two previous places I lived had about 12 stairs but twenty three is too much:eek::eek:

Unlike you and Fozz I wouldn't be using mine for main grocery shopping just other shopping like yesterday it's a long walk from the car park to town and I had presents and some groceries to carry plus a big bag of potatoes, so what with weight and those plastic handles cutting it was just too much for my joints, so for times like that I need a trolley.

I remember this thread when it started and though Oh I'll never need one of those , how times can change.

I had one some years back...........real god send it was for getting shopping home from the supermarket. Then home delivery started and it seemed a bit redundant (along with the fold up one I had) and it a decluttering purge both got thrown out (OH was pleased to see the back of them)
They were both 'traditional' sorts.............couldn't find anything 'trendy' anywhere. My friend had one and decorated hers with a lot of badges............lol

Now I'm, beginning to regret parting with them. Since I suffered with my back last year anything vaguely heavy and I have to get a taxi home - only a short ride but still £2.50 a go.

So...................I'm all for them especially now they don't have to be what we always called 'granny bags'...............lol

    Hi again,

Mine has a drawstring and the handle is not adjustable. I am average ish height - 5' 6" - I would think if you were very tall or very short it might not be comfortable to pull.

You wouldn't think it was possible to get 23 steps between the ground and first floors, would you  but believe me, it is! There's a little flight of 3 at the bottom, then a flight of 10 and a landing and another 10...

I bought a little trolley (beige/brown stripes, very cheap!) when I had to give up my car a few months ago. Its been a godsend for carrying my milk, fruit and veg and because its not too big, its quite easy to manage on the bus.

I didn't have a car when my kids were little, so I used to pack a picnic, blankets, football and all sorts into my old red tartan granny-shopper and we'd trundle off to a local beauty spot for a picnic! My kids still talk about those picnics 30 years later! We couldn't have done it without the trolley as it was a couple of miles up a steep hill :D
... don't throw the string away. You always need string! :D

I actually have two & I drag one on each arm. :rotfl:It's hard getting them on the bus but if I flutter my eyelashes at a few strong looking blokes I usually get someone to help. :D I then wonder why my tennis elbow has flared up since living on the island.
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

  • Just thought I'd bump this as the discount is just about to end

    From Rabbits post #516:
    Hello everyone,

I have been wondering about getting a Rolser trolley and emailed (Novela) Rolser for some information. I asked about a discount for MSE-ers and this is the reply I got from them below:-

"With regard to the MoneySavingExpert offer, we could extend that offer again. It would be 5% - just quote MSE in the 'special comments' box on our order form on our website. The offer ends on February 29th 2008. "

    The website is www.rolser.co.uk.
Has anyone ordered with the discount code? I tried to last night but the paypal amount didn't have the discount reflected in it. Do they give you a refund? I've just emailed Rolser but don't know how long they'll take to reply and I don't want to miss the offer!

    Had this reply from Rolser
if you put MSE in the comments box, we will issue you a refund for the discount as soon as we receive the order.

    Hi Wickywocky,

If I remember correctly Rolser refund the discount when they process your order. I think you get an email telling you.

    Which one did you order?
My first reply was witty and intellectual but I lost it so you got this one instead :D
