Ive got one of those suction handles in my shower cwta and if its the same as mine they are really strong, and thats a very good price.
I would love to sleep that long, I hope you feel better for it.

Why are my legs still hurting from Saturday  I only walked the to my dads ward at the hospital in the afternoon and a few doors away to the local pub garden in the evening, and they dont seem any better from Sunday yet. It's annoying as theres not much you can do with leg pain, anywhere else and Id use a heat pad or tens machine, Ive tried warm baths and done nothing but rest the last 2 days. Im going to see Dad again this afternoon, but dd's coming with me so I might get her to push me in the wheelchair, although I hate using it.

Suep you've been worried about your dad, so I wonder if the tension of this has settled itself in your legs, and that's why they're still so achey? Hope he's doing better, btw.

I used to have an aloe vera plant too, but the only plants I have indoors these days are mustard and cress and a pot of basil on the kitchen windowsill.

When we had the bathroom refitted (it was in dire need of it when I moved in here!!) we got a bath with integral handles, so I've never tried the suction oes. Always wondered how good they were though, so that's useful info for if/when I have to resort to one next to the loo!

For those who want to see the wolves, try this - although you'll have to ignore the bit at the end when I nearly dropped the camera.

  • Hope your Dad is brighter today sue.

lw What a lively lot of lupines! I would have nearly dropped the camera at their spatting so close to me *g*

Am having an early lunch of one of those mini bagettes with egg mayo in and I've filled it up so badly I'm ending up wearing most of the filling *g*

  • sharon We've had quite a lot of rain the last few days and it's been blowing a gale! It's a little sunnier today, but with a brisk breeze again.
Hope you're enjoying doing the cross stitch.

Yes I am photosensitive. I usually use Factor 30 when it's sunny, but it looked a bit overcast yesterday, so we didn't take sun lotion with us. Luckily, we both have baseball caps that we keep in the car - me because of the sensitivity, and Mr LW to protect his thinning patch! LOL

I would like to know what the herbal one is that you mentioned - might be better than the bog-standard Tesco's that we currently have.

Hi LW, just a quick mention that Sainsbury's do a Factor 50 facial sun cream for about £3.50 that I've used and can recommend. A little goes a very long way - but I use it under make-up and especially on my neck where I have quite bad scars (they show up worse in summer if I am not careful :o). I was sent by dermatology to see the Red Cross make-up people and I've had the special make-up on prescription but it's a really messy business. It's the stuff they use for covering facial birth-marks - but obviously on my neck (even properly applied with the loose powder to set it) it rubs off on the collars of blouses etc. I use Elemental Beauty mineral make-up http://www.elementalbeauty.co.uk/p/category/0707242111-Lasting+Mineral+Eyeshadow/ over the Sainsbury's cream and it hides the scars without being quite so messy :o.

Actually the Red Cross told me - and it would probably apply to you too with being photosensitive - that you can get high factor sun preparations on prescription;). I have never asked my gp - but that's just because my script list is quite long to start with and I'd be embarrassed .

LOL The handlers had hidden some snacks in their enclosure, so they were busy finding them; there was also a tasty morsel attached to the fence near me, which both Cheza and Sefka fancied the look of.

Sharon the weather forecast for the next few days is wet'n'windy, at least for Concrete Cow Country, and the barometer has dropped markedly. Still, at least it's not so swelteringly hot, for which I'm grateful.

I ought to be getting on with my cross stitch too, but somehow I haven't been able to settle to it. Probably the hot weather - so I'll have no excuse this week.:D

EDIT: LOL @ Auntie Axe wearing the contents of the baguette.

lw yes your probably right about the stress of my Dad making the pain worse, Im doing a meditation every day which is helping me stay a bit calmer, the only trouble is, I dont want to come back to reality ;)

I love the wolf film, thanks for posting it.

Sharon At the moment the suns out, but its cloudy and windy and we've had 2 showers so far today. Sounds like the cross stitch/ quilt making will keep you busy for a while, and at least you dont have to go out in the rain.

cwta The books have just arrived, thankyou so much. I'll have to finish the one Im reading before I can start them and will pass the Vampire one onto Unity when Ive finished it. Visiting times at 3, so I will find out how Dad is then.

Thanks for the info on sun preparations Unity. Next time I can get to Northampton, I'll try to get to Sainsbugs to have a look. I'm usually OK with the Tesco one, it's just that we thought it was going to be dull on Sunday so didn't put any on, and forgot to take it with us just in case.:wall: I think I'll put some into a little pot to keep in the car, that'll prevent a similar situation happening again.

lw and pcl Awful memories for you both to have to live with and what you say makes perfect sense about learning not to sleep. Hugs to you both.

I had a real upside down day yesterday - went for nap at 2pm, slept til gone 7pm and then slept the night through. Maybe catch up time? I think also partly a reaction to reducing the steroids again - shame - dammit, I feel so well when I'm on a higher dose of them! They won't allow me to stay at higher dose though as long term use causes all sorts of problems.
When I get back from town this morning, I'll check the make of this suncream - I don't remember it as being particularly cheap though but I may be able to pop into Health store I got it from and pick up info on what they have available.

Now I know who pinched my sleep allowance CWTA :rotfl:. I gave up trying at around 3 a.m. after about an hour and a half's sleep . Would someone like to volunteer to come round and hit me on the head with a rubber mallet? :D I'm still scratching all the time - even in my sleep - so it's wearing me out. I don't know whether it is the Durogesic patches or perhaps the strawberries and cherries I have been indulging in . I've had a similar reaction to strawbs in the past so I'm going to give them up and see if it makes a difference. Typical - you never get a reaction to broccoli or potatoes, it always has to be something you like .
