I'm sorry to hear that cwta
could you push the fact that she will be losing a good percentage to the letting agents each month, would she have someone that could check the house for her every few months?? would your landlord now write a good reference for youto say how impeccable you have been as a tenant? I do hope you can sort it out as you seemed so excited

Im supposed to be having family round for dinner on Monday, so Ive got till then to feel better.

Had an email that she's definately decided to go with the Letting Agent. The only thing I have going for me is that she accepted £100 on the day I viewed as a deposit for rent and I have a receipt stating that.I must go, I have lives to ruin and hearts to breakMy attitude depends on my Latitude 49° 55' 0" N 6° 19' 60 W0

Right, I feel like absolute pap today, fingers don't work (I've just corrected "fingers" 3 times ), and I can't remember any of the posts from yesterday that I should probably've replied to. No words I type look right at all and I can no longer get the laptop to "communicate" with the printer so invite production has ceased for the moment as if I try any more with it I'm liable to just shove something large and destructive into the printer in order to "communicate" with it effectively!!
Auntie Axe I know that this'll probably go in one ear and out the other but please listen to me... The lady has already accepted you as a tenant. You have already paid her money as a deposit and she has already accepted it and given you a receipt. Just because she's decided to go through the letting agents does not mean that you will have the same hassles as I had, it just means she wants the peace of mind of having an agent here in the UK keeping an eye out, and tbh I would do the same. I bet she's only thinking about stuff like what would happen in the even of some kind of maintanence issue etc. Plus it means for you that the deposit you pay has to be paid to the DPS (Deposit Protection Scheme) - which in turn means that your deposit is protected, secure and refunded with any interest accrued at the end of your lease. Should the letting agents or the landlady decide that they want to take money out of the deposit for, lets say, carpet cleaning, they have to go through the DPS first and it means you have a point of recourse if you disagree with the decision. Please think of this as nothing negative and if anything it's more than likely positive, as you'll have somewhere to contact if there is a problem and you'll get a swifter remedy in place than if you had to contact her in Australia etc. Seriously, if she's already accepted you as a tenant, that's what she'll be going to the letting agents telling them. DON'T STRESS.
As for the rest of you, it's not that I don't care I'm just absolutely screwed over today...

careful thats great that you already have a reciept etc. that should mean that even if she goes through the agents you shouldnt have any hassle as she is going to them with a tennant already lined up, not asking them to find a tennant.
bz feel better soon.

I know what you mean about shopping. I'm not even bothering, I've sent DF to get an onion and some mushrooms so we can make the shepherd spy for Mil2b coming tomorrow. (I have great timing to be put on my @rse eh?) It's like people think we're heading for nuclear holocaust anytime we have a bank holiday, innit? Do cows suddenly all expire and we can never get milk again?"I am indelibly stained by hope and longing" - Nuts in May0 -
yup and flour becomes a precious item so we can never get bread again either. even years ago when nothing was open at all on sundays or bank hols there was always some corner shop or somewhere that had full stocks of essentials if you couldnt wait and extra day, i really dont understand the panick buying.0

Ditto. The 24hr garages and the fact that shops are open on Bank Holidays these days should surely be enough for life to go on....?"I am indelibly stained by hope and longing" - Nuts in May0
