PPI Reclaiming Discussion part 4

Hello. I need some advice. I took out a loan with HFC Bank for £5,500 back in 2001. I defaulted soon after. The case was handed to Restons solicitors and a CCJ was issued in 2002 for £13,500. I have been asking for the past year for a copy of the CCA and this morning it finally arrived. It shows that decreasing life term insurance (£503.69) and ASU insurance (£960.53) were added to the loan. Also £998.18 in interest for those insurance policies were added meaning £2,462.40 was added not including the original loan plus interest. I never knew I had this insurance and most certainly didn't ask for it. I now pay Restons £50 per month and have been for some time and I now owe around £9,800. My question is do I have a claim here for PPI mis-selling and if so how should I go about it?0

Hi there
with your reasons I would certainly give it a go.
You write to the ones who sold you the finance, they have 8 weeks in full to respond, post letters by recorded delivery for your proof of positng.
Keep at them.
Here below is the link of the guidelines to reclaiming, template letters and so on, check this out to help you through this, and please ask for help anytime on this as well.

Good luck with this and please let us know how you get on.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Hi
I am just in the middle of reclaiming PPI from a loan with the Halifax. After several letters they wrote to me in December to say they werent admitting any liability but felt as a valued customer my policy might not have been appropriate. They have therefore said they will write again with an offer of an amount that will put me back in the position I was in if I hadnt taken out the insurance which is great, but they have said that because the loan is still current that they will deduct it from the amount I still owe. Can they do this or can I request they give me the money?
Sorry if this has been answered somewhere on the site but I couldnt find it!
Thanks0 -

Hi Louise
And welcome.;)
Well done on your success.
If you've no arrears then you can ask if they can consider paying this directly to you.
Of course you do not have to accept their decision if your not happy with it and if they do not deal with this the way you have requested, you can always go to the financial ombudsman service (FOS), but please be aware the FOS have large volumes of complaints to deal with which could take some time.
Good luck with this.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
