  • I will check through my original loan agreement and see if I can find the Insurer. Tha really annoying thing is that Ocean Finance have been writing to us regularly since we took out the loan offering to arrange further advances. The use terms such as "as a valued customer". Yet they say they are not the same company which sold us the loan in 2000!!

Yes I can understand your frustration here.

With mine, the business dissolved in 2006 after taking out a loan in 2004, we first went to the lender - who got back to say take this complaint to the broker called Click Finance, we did this only to be told they dissolved, the annoying thing about it is that the manager and director still run other Click businesses.

So from trying with the lender again, we got nowhere, then I checked the paperwork from the lender who were Endeavour personal finance, and found that I had to request for the ppi policy details from them separately, done this and found the insurer/underwriters details on them.

If you don't have these, then your lender can still supply them to you.;)

did you settle your loan early?
  • yes. settled loan around July 2003.
  • My PPI document states "Miller Firstline(NLA)" as being the Administrator of the PPI scheme. Don't know if this would just be who to contact for a claim. Can't see a mention of the actual insurance company.
  • Im currently claiming for mis-sold PPI from Welcome finance, In total I have had 7 loans including my current loan. It was always a case of refinancing so the first loan was £3000 next £8000 and so on until now i have a loan for £25000. On all the loans I was told having the PPI cover would help with me getting the loan. Anyway my question is not about being mis-sold but where i would start to work out or find out what I would be able to claim back.
I know the PPI was always up front and added to the loan but i have no calculations as to what I may have been refunded if anything each time I refinanced.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Regards
    Greg

I understand this loan was taken out a few years and ago and settled, it may still be worth you contacting the lender of which in your case was First plus, as they held your details and ask if they would be able to clarify on whom the insurer was at the time your loan was active.
I'm sure they can still track this down as there will be many who still have active loans from that date now as well.

This way you will know for sure if the above are the ones to pursue this with.

Hopefully someone else who taken this out the same time with the same lender First plus will also have the answers on this one for you of who you should pursue this with.;)
