Hi, need a bit of advice please. I successfully claimed my PPI back from Halifax although i made a claim for redundancy on the policy. They deducted the amount they paid out on my claim from the total i claimed back in PPI. I was surprised at this as i have read that if you claimed on a PPI policy you are unable to claim it was missold. I tried to claim from A&L with the same circumstances but they said no straight away. Do you think it is worth me sending a second letter or does no mean no in this case ? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi there
I hope someone will come along with some help for you on this one, but not sure if you can actually go for mis selling as a successful claim was made, however if for some reason or other you have had other issues about them, you can of course complain.
For example, maybe they have paid out for one claim and not the other, and maybe people think this is unfair etc.
Hopefully someone will be along soon, maybe its worth you also checking on the FOS website as well, this should also give you some ideas.

    All the best with this.;)

  • Hi!
was just wondering if anyone has sucessfully reclaimed ppi and asked for compensation for the inconvenience caused?
I have sucessfully relaimed several, missold ppi's but never asked for comp. I have been offered varying amounts for inconvenience. Do I have a right to ask for more if I beleive it is not enough or do I need to make it clear that I want compensation from the begining?
    Thanks xx
You cant have everything; where would you put it? ;)
    Reclaimed: marbles c/card-£131.00,MBNA c/card-£385.00,Capital One c/card-£230.00,Natwest c/card-£248.68,Nationwide PPI-£1590.88,Nationwide c/card-£56.21,Barclays PPI-£2805.28

The most I have seen is £500 through FOS if I remember rightly. How much have you been offered and is this through FOS? I take it you are on about money for stress and inconvenience here and not the 8% statutory interest???

hi all, I'm just starting out for ppi claiming, but can any one direct me towards the addresses for banks as i need to ask for loan agreement numbers, specifically i need address for Natwest, HAlifax and for AA finance if anyone can help me out?? many thanks

    Hi Ally,

I recently put my claim in with AA Finance (loan) and used this address:

    AA Personal Finance Limited
    City House
    City Road
    Chester
    CH88 3AN

They received it and passed the Bank of Scotland, (who are responsible for the old 'AA Loans') who responded to me promptly.

    HTH, good luck! :)

    Hello and welcome.;)

    PPI - Payment Protection Insurance
TMPP - Total Mortgage Protection Plan

So this must be to protect your mortgage then?

I am not sure about reclaiming on insurance on TMPP to be honest, but like any other insurance, if you were mis sold for any reason, you should have the right to reclaim.

  • I took a loan out with First Plus in 2000 through Ocean Finance. The salesman told me that the PPI was a cumpulsory part of the loan. The loan was settled in 2003 when we were arranging a new mortgage.
After reading about PPI reclaiming on this site I decided to have a go.
I wrote to First Plus but was told that as Ocean Finace were the brokers then they were responsible for selling the PPI. I wrote to Ocean Finance who say that they are not the same company as the Ocean Finance which was trading in 2000. They passed my details onto Moore Stephens (chartered accountants) who had dealt with the "winding up" of Ocean Finance who ceased trading in 2004. They say the company has been formally disolved.
I decided to fill in a FOS complaint form but have recently had a reply saying that Alabaster ( the name for Ocean Finance) was not covered by FOS at the time I took out my loan. They therefore won't take on my complaint.
Is my only course of action to go through a reclaiming company? Does anyone know of any successes using this route? Thanks in advance for any advice.

    Hello and welcome,

I am so sorry to hear this.

However, some have resubmitted to the FOS who have been in the same position as yourself, I am one of them and the FOS are looking at this for me through the underwriter side of it, or insurer then, try to get hold of the underwriters/insurers details, and write to them, or as soon as you have the details ask the FOS are they able to take your case on through pursuing this direction.
I'm sure if myself and others can, then you can do.

Do you know who the insurers were by any chance?

    Hi and welcome.

Basically you write to the ones who sold you the finance, Woolwich then, or to kill 2 birds with 1 stone, write to both, one of them will come back to say who is responsible here.

There is a useful link below, with the guidelines of reclaiming, a checklist of mis selling reasons, template letters and so on.

Check this out first and if you require any help from there, please just yell, remember to post your reclaiming letters by recorded delivery.

Good luck and please keep us posted.;)
