Hi All.
I am awaiting my refund from EGG, via FOS, who wont tell me how much it is or anything, but I am concerned about how I check their calculations, when I do receive it.?
I also sent off my 1st letter for a 2nd complaint to them on 23/9/09 re 3 earlier loan agreements and they have sent a letter back TODAY stating that they will be refunding the PPI on these too in 10 days! Wow!
I am unsure as to whether their calculations are correct on these too?
Surely there must be some way of checking the calculations what with all the help so far along the way?
Any ideas?

Congrats on the refunds! I think that on the letter that you would have had from the adjudicator it gives a rough idea of how much you will get back but it doesnt seem to advise if there is a difference if you repaid early (as I did). So I dont really know what I will end up getting back either, all I know is it is whatever I actually paid plus 8% interest plus £200 compensation.superdupermummy wrote: »Hi All.

Hi all im new to all this so please be gentle lol.I got a loan from heaven forbid HFC Bank back in 1998 this was settled the following October [1999]by taking out a further advance again this was settled in Aug 2001.Im sure ppi was added to both as i was told i wouldnt get the money if i didnt have the insurance and i wasnt aware you could get it elsewhere.I had my tv financed by HFC and i def no that ppi was not added to that it was settled last year.Anyhow i wrote to HFC and enclosed a £2 cheque to get a copy of my aggreements and i received a letter from them today saying....As you maybe aware, the bank is not required to provide information under section 77 of the act when a loan has been paid in full. The cheque was sent back to me aswell. What do i do now?Do i send a £10 cheque asking for a sar or should i just forget it and concentrate on getting my bank and cc charges refunded instead.sorry its a bit long winded just getting confused now. Thanks in advance if you can help on this one.cheers0

Hi there
On request they are supposed to send you a written breakdown.
However, on one of mine (different loan company) I received a cheque where the ombudsman received details of the amount and calculations, and the ombudsman noted we were more than £2K down, so another cheque were sent, if this did happen, you will get all your money, but on request the FOS can also send you a copy as well.
For more information, check our Maxdp's thread on how the FOS calculates refunds:

Good luck.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"

Hello and welcome.;)
If you had running acounts in the last 6 years then maybe then it will be worth requesting for a SAR, again if they cannot supply they have to write to explain and return your payment.
More details and SAR letter template on here:

It may also be a good idea to ring the FOS on this to see if they can investigate if no success from the bank.

It does make you think doesn't it?
Although I know sometimes if the accounts have been settled they do not always keep hold of the copies of the agreements, but they should supply you with any information they do still hold on you on a SAR request.
(You never know, the agreement may still turn up this way).;)
Fingers crossed. The one and only "Dizzy Di"
