I'm in the process of claiming from Northern Rock. I sent the first letter, received a questionaire which i sent back blank with a covering letter explaining they had all the details they need.
Today i have received a letter stating that they hope to have been able to provide me with a full and final response but it is taking longer than anticipated.
I sent the first letter about 5 weeks ago now - they received it 25/8. Do i need to respond to this?

how long was the original loan over? as if you only had say 12 months left on the original loan that will be all that is left on the new one but the paper work will show the original term,(if this is a mis sell win), if this is just an offer and your loan term will be increased then i would give fos a ring and they will help you more. no credit check is done when they do the new loan they just do it without the ppi on. was this mis sell that you won or just an offer from them? if you have no arrears they should give all of it back to you (some dont though) good luck with this and if you need anymore help you will get it on here x

I sent one lettler claiming that they had mis sold the cover because my husband was self employed and they failed to tell us that he would not be covered even though he was the named person on the insurance!!! When his work dried up this year I tried to claim and was told he wasn't covered and never had been and to top it off they said that I could not cancel the cover and would have to keep paying it....... It took them eight weeks after I sent my letter but they sent a letter saying that they did not agree that it had been mis sold but they were making us an offer out of good will!!!!!

We do have three months arrears so I understand why they are going to use it to clear that. The loan was over four years and should end end of Oct next year, not in 18 months time which they are claiming, I do have the paper work to proove this, should I insist that the new loan ends inline with the paper work I have or will this make them withdraw the offer?

Thank you for all of your help.

I think it's normal for a claim to take at least 8 weeks.

They have 8 weeks to respond. If they have not responded by the 8 weeks write again and give them one more week to respond otherwise you will go straight to FOS. Good Luck

    Hi Leanne

I would wait for a response from them now, due to the volume of the complaints they are dealing with, this is probably what everyone are receiving from them, but you are still entitled to move your case on to the FOS after 8 weeks if you want to, hope you hear soon with some good news, fingers crossed.;)

DId you send it recorded delivery? Have they replied to say they are looking into this for you? By rights they have 8 weeks for a full and final response but if you have not sent by recorded and received any acknowledgement to this then it may be best to check they have received it by writing again enclosing a copy (if you have one) of the first letter and reiterating your complaint.
