    Hi there;)

    I would most certainly try.

When you say that you have already written to A&L, so you mean a reclaim on the refund for ppi?

If so are you just waiting for a decision on this?

Already tried and been refused. Because it was my choice to take it out in the first place. They never mentioned my repayment plan conversation.

    Hi there
I would write back until you receive the final response, the final decision should enclose details of the financial ombudman service (FOS), where you should be able to take your complaint to these if your not happy with the outcome of your complaint.;)

  • Don't know if this will be in the right place or not ! I have this morning received an offer of £189.49 from the Alliance and Leicester, this is repayment of life insurance to cover for a loan taken out in february 2005. I am receiving exactly what I payed. Do I accept this or should I be expecting compensation as well. Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi there

Did they also send you a detailed written breakdown on this?
If not ask if they can post these out to you, just in case anything is a miss, if this is what you have paid then that is good, wondering though if you can reclaim the interest as well, that's if that was not included in the total that is.;)

Hsbc have written back to me saying "that i need to visit a local branch to restructure my loan, and will arrange a new loan without protection and for the outstanding balance on your existing loan to be repaid. The new loan will be on the same basis with the interest rate being honoured and term scheduled to coincide with the term remaining on the original loan"
Can anybody explain to me clearly of what does the bank is trying to say here?for what i understand they want me to get a new loan to pay off my existing loan and then do not take PPI for the new loan?what would happen to the claims i have made?can please help me and enlighten me for what further things to do here.thank you for your time

Can anyone advised me re:what i have written above. Do i need to claim my previous PPI even if i am granted a new loan?anyone please..

    Hi there Chellie

In your case if there was a previous loan as well, I would if also mis sold the PPI try to reclaim on this, but I would also ask that they send the breakdown in details of the previous loan to see how they calculated this, such as into the new loan then.
Ask them to post them to you in writing, good luck.;)

hi chellie. i would do as di says, i think they are fobbing you off, if you go mis sell if you have a reason to then that is what i would do, write back to them and tell them you are not happy with this and would like a full break down of how they came to the calculations they gave you, when you get that reply post on here and we can help you more. it sounds to me this is just to cancel ppi and if you have a reason to go mis sell then go for that

Hi i'm really hoping someone on here can help me!!! i have a Kays catalogue which i became a customer of in august 1998, when i was only 19 and have been paying ppi since then because the salesperson on the phone told me you had to have it to be accepted for the catalogue. After reading everything in the paper about this, i phoned them 4 weeks ago and asked for a refund of all the ppi i'd paid over the last 11 years. I received a letter from them today stating that all there advisors offer insurance using a sales script and that a certificate of insurance must have been sent out to me at the time stating the terms and conditions and that i had 30 days at the time to cancel it. i was only 19 so obviously believed the advisor that you needed to have this to get a catalogue!!!! They say they are not in a position to refund the premiums as i had the full benefit of this cover should i have had to make a claim and that they've cancelled the policy as of today but because the policy was sold before the 5th of november 2004 that i'm unable to refer the complaint to the FOS because they were not a member of a dispute resolution service until this date. They also say they have to point out that if i do go to the FOS it is unlikely they will consider my complaint but that if i do i will have to confirm to them that i've had a FINAL response which i should consider this letter to be. This is the only letter i've had from the company, can someone advise me whether i should bother trying to get the money back?? or do i leave it as they say thats the end of the matter? 11 years worth of ppi must amount to a lot of money so i'd only like to leave it if i really stand no chance of getting anything back

    Hi Kelly ;)

Sorry to hear of your issues your having with this business, it's so frustrating isn't it that they state that your unable to take to the FOS because the business were not covered as such/under jurisdiction at the time.

However, I would still try contacting the FOS and ask if they can help, just in case, as some have resubmitted their cases prior to Jan 2005 and having them looked at.
I know your case is older again but still worth trying.
Failing that, you could always try the Financial leasing Association (FLA), if the FOS confirm they cannot help here:
    http://www.fla.org.uk/fla/contact/index.jsp

    FOS here:
    http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/contact/index.html

Good luck and please keep us posted.;)
