  • Cheers,

I think egg are digging there heals in due to the amount of money they have charged me for adding to a current loan and the fact it was already charged on the prior loan means I have been charged twice but if all else fails hopefully the ombudsman will find in my favour. I hope getting my egg credit card charges back is easier. Will keep everyone posted

That's the way, fingers crossed they will supply these recordings for you hun, good luck and we look forward to hearing the outcome, and of course post up anytime for help if required.;)

  • Has anyone successfully reclaimed their PPI cover from Egg as a self-employed person? I'm just about to start the process and am wondering if I'm barking up the wrong tree so to speak? Any input is much appreciated.
    Cheers

Plenty have complained to Egg and won. Often though they have a habit of making any redress against what you owe them. Some have argued it though and won.

If you are claiming back cause of self employment then make sure for definate that you are not eligible to make a claim before using this reason. Sometimes you can make a claim even when you are self employed and it would state the eligibility in the terms and conditions of your PPI. There are lots of other reasons too and I suggest you take a look at the guide here
    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance

and see if there is anything else you can add. If you do make a complaint then on the guide is a template letter. It is best to make your own letter from the template and don't forget to send recorded delivery so you have proofs. You then give them 8 weeks for a full and final response and if they do not uphold you can then ask the Ombudsman to intervene.

If you want any more help then please ask and good luck.
  • I had PPI with an A&L credit card, I signed the paperwork issued to me when I took out the card asking for PPI.
However a couple of years ago I lost my job and had to go on a repayment plan as I could not afford to pay back the full amount each month. This was done over the phone and the operative I spoke to told me it was best to keep the PPI going even though it would mean I was paying less back off the total each month.

Do I have any chance of putting a claim in with regard to this. I have already written to A&L and they refused saying that I voluntarily signed the acceptance document for PPI, however there was no mention of the phone call made during my repayment plan.

    Hi there;)

    I would most certainly try.

When you say that you have already written to A&L, so you mean a reclaim on the refund for ppi?

If so are you just waiting for a decision on this?

SO when you lost your job did the PPI cover the repayments then??
  • It seems so obvious doesn't it - almost ironic. What the bleep was the PPI for in the first place then? Oh I forgot - free money for any bank or financial institution who lays claim to it. Didnt I also see on Watchdog (I think) that one customer very clearly remembers NEVER ticking the box so how come it got ticked then? Didnt I read that someone at that bank ticked it for them? What a cheek to claim that if you applied online you can't claim its miss-sold. That's a blatant lie isn't it?

We were chatting in the office. Two of us said we'd absolutely no faith in banks at all - better to keep at least some of it in a good safe under the floorboards!

  • Hi everyone. This is my first post on the site after being a long time lurked for years! I've succesfully reclaimed over £2000 from HSBC in bank charges, using the info & experiences from this site & now I'm having a look down the PPI route.
Back in 2004/05 I took out a secured loan via FreedomFinance to cover some spiralling debts. I can't remember which lender they directed me too but they certainly told me that the lender in question would only give the loan if I took out the PPI as well. I managed to sell my house in 2006 & settled the loan in full. I have none of the paperwork at all either & I've made a call to FF asking for all the information & I'm awaiting a reply.
My question is if any of you guys have had similar experiences with the same firm & if you think this is worth pursuing?

Its definately worth pursuing but I would write to Freedom Finance for all the info as you then have a proof. Also if you require all the information they are enititled to charge £10 for this within a Subject Access Request so it may be best to do this properly but with all the information it can take 40 days for them to do this. If its only the agreement that you require its usually the lender you make this request to and this costs you £1 but I am sure that Freedom would at least be able to direct you to the lender for free but again this needs to be in writing and sent recorded delivery.

If you are requesting the full SAR then there is a template letter here but again you need to first see who the loan was with.
