Hi - we have never been in arrears with them. They have sent us a letter with the breakdown of how they have calculated it all and have sent us a cheque for overpayments made on the loan to date plus the 8%. However they are stating that the full PPI premium plus interest on this amount has been recredited to the account. I am completely confused but when we signed the acceptance from the FOS it didnt mention anything whatsoever with regard to having the money offset against the loan. I put my point across quite forceably with the man at the FOS and he said he will re-contact First Plus and "see what they say". I just wanted some advice from you lovely people as to how to proceed? Thanks again.

    Hi Doddy

I would see what the FOS comes back with now, there are many with complaints against FP and sure many will post up with their own experience with them, however if you get the chance to browse the threads you will find a huge amount of complaints in regards of this company.
The FOS should be able to guide you in the right direction from here.

We wish you luck through this, good luck.;)

    hi everyone,
just got a letter from Capital One about my PPI request. They do admit they have been fined but say my account was not affected. They say i got the PPi over the phone(correct) but i have listened to the T&C and i have agreed to them. Their staff was not allowed to make any suggestions on wheather the policy is right for me, so they say i was not tricked into taking it. What should i do? They didn't sent tme the tape with the SAR letter, so is this witholding an information? Are there any self-employed people who successfully reclaimed their PPI. My policy was taken in 2005. I remember askng if it is good for me as i was self employed and i just have tried to make a claim on my PPI with Barclays and they turned me down, so i made sure they knew about my employment status which was self employed.

Hi, don't know if this one's cropped up before - i've sent the Stage 1 PPI letter to Cahoot for 2 accounts (2 seperate letters, 2 envelopes) and got a letter back yesterday covering both saying i need to fill in a questionnaire re my status at the time i took out the PPI (salary, marital status, outgoings, salary etc) - without it they say they won't touch my claim.
Although i've had the oldest of the 2 accounts for over 8 years i could probably manage to complete it but why would i need to?

    1) should they be lumping my 2 separate complaints together?
    2) why would they need to know what my food bill was 8 years ago?
    3) Is this just Cahoot/Abbey/Santandar's way of putting peeps off claiming?

    Thanks,

    Hi there,

I think what it is in your case is that because it has gone past the 6 years, they require this information for them to continue with your complaint, as they may only hold your data for up to 6 years as to when settled or the last 6 years, hope this makes sense.;)

Some business will sort out the complaints together and others separately.

Do not let that put you off though, keep at them.;)

There are many others on here who have complaints against these and I'm sure they will post up.

Good luck and please keep us posted, cheers.

Update: i stupidly forgot to do the form and the 14 deadline passed for them to receive it so i thought well that was that, i'd missed my chance.
Thena couple of days ago i got a v apologetic letter saying they were sorry it was taking so long and they were still actively working on my complaint. odd i thought, they didn't get the form.
Anyway, got 2 letters this morning - 1 offering £500 inc 8% for one claim and £7500 inc 8% for the other!!!!!!!!!!!! AND they're happy to issue a cheque!
i need to sit down and have a read through the paperwork when i get home to make sure they're being fair.

    Thanks Guys,

Hi all following my rejection letter with LTSB for my ccard, I phoned them up this morning to give them one more opportunity to disclose ppi info:

After informing I was complaining to FOS they said policy no would be card number and it was with Norwich Union, when asked if Norwich Union would know who I was, LTSB replied by saying they were not sure!!!!!

Phoned DSAR team back as still missing statements, cca and ppi information they stated that they always thought insurance was with London and Edinburgh.

Any one else had this experience?

    Thanks

hi there take this to fos, if you were self employed and could not make a claim. you were sold something not fit for purpose. its poppy !!!! that you were given all details of terms and conditions, all ppi does is give the person who sold it to you a nice fat comission!!!! you go for mis sell and keep us posted, they are trying to fob you off

    thank you, amersall!
Why Barclays refused my claim was that they asked for proof of benefits i was receiving as i was out of work, but my visa status at that time didn't allow me claiming any benefits, so i couldn't prove i wasn't working. What puzzles me is how someone not qualified to tell you if the policy suits you is allowed to sell it:confused:. Because this is what the letter i got today actually says. Just because i have agreed to terms and conditions makes it legal, is it? And how many people actually understand those T&C? If i make a claim now as i haven't worked for 2 years as i am looking after my son, are they going to pay up? Maybe i should try it.

hi violetmva, i won a claim with nr on two loans that i did on the internet, the banks logic was that i had read the terms and conditions and i knew what i was doing!!, you did not need ppi as you could not claim on it, write a letter to fos and put what you have said on here and let us know what the outcome is, good luck ( but you wont need it ) with your circumstances

Actually the Barclays one is quite a strange one. In the Sar they haven't inculded the PPI or any CCA. When i claimed the PPi they sent me the agreement with ticked manualy ppi option, which was not my hand writing. The agreement itself is for a mastercard but i got a visa. And on top of that it states i was employed which i have not been. The bad thing is i haven't checked it but signed and returned. I remember stating i was self employed on the phone though when i took the policy. Don't think i will pursue this one, as it clearly i stand no chance.

hi doddyo3, when you get a mis sell with any company you get all the ppi payments back to you that you have paid to date (not sure what you mean by the overpayments?) plus 8% interest, then the ppi total amount is taken off your loan and the loan put back in the position it would have been without the ppi then your loan payment reduces, the ppi is over the whole loan term not just for the 5 years, that is why your loan has been reduced by the ppi as you have not yet paid the total back yet. even after 5 years!!!! thats why front loaded ppi is a rip off, i am sure if you post on here what your ppi was and the monthly payment for that, then the figures you are getting back i am sure someone on here will let you know if that is right. my ppi was 23000 and after 5 years you claim that back, i will still be paying over the remaining loan term the 23000 again!!!
