When did you pay off this loan?

If this was within the last 6 years, they should be able to supply something to you where the account number will be within the information, but by requesting a Subject a SAR (Subject access request).

    Check this link out here
    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1475553

This is a SAR letter template, but there is a charge of £10 postal order or cheque payment for this, they have 40 days to comply with this request.

However again write down any different address at the time, your full name and DOB to help them track this down and maybe the year the loan was taken out.

If still having any problems, the Information Commissioners Office (ICO), may be able to advise you here:

I paid off this Loan in Feb 2006 so am I right in stating that this is well within the criteria?

Had the same address of the past 7 years and have supplied my current account number sort code etc for them so at the least they should have the details for the feb 2004 (which was a further extention of the original loan) - feb 2006 installments when I was paying 385 per month?

As I say many thanks again Di !!

If you believe you were mis sold you can start your claim against NatWest, they are obliged to investigate your complaint even if you don't have all the details. You need to be quick as the intial loan / ppi was sold over 7 years ago and the 1980 Statute of Limitations Act is 6 years for reclaiming a 'debt'. As it's NatWest you can go to the Financial Ombudsman who have discretion to look at anything over 6 years but the quicker you start your complaint the better !!!

Morning everyone, in need of a bit of help again

Just been looking over OH's loan stuff and it seems he got a part refund when he cleared his last loan with the Cooperative

Can we still claim for the rest?
I suspect the part refund he got on the ppi element of the loan was quite low - how these things work is that you make monthly repayments but you are first repaying ALL the PPi premiums before you start repaying any of the loan capital - for example on a £1200 loan ( £50 x 24 months) with ppi of £480 (ie £20 x 24) your monthly premium is £70 - you think you're repaying £20 ppi & £50 loan capital but in fact the for the 1st 7 months of the loan ALL the £70 is going towards the PPI element and nothing off the loan - that's why people are surprised when they ask for a settlement figure part way through a loan as to why they still owe so much back - it's all gone on paying the insurance !!!

I took out the loan in 2008. I did not send cheque for £1 (I must have missed this bit).
When you say to ring "them", do you mean my bank or the ICO?

Are Nat West incorrect in saying that as the loan has finished they do not have to provide me with the information?

No they are talking rubbish - they have to provide you with the information - you have to send £10 and request all information held quoting the Data Protection Act 1998, however, if you think you have been mis sold a PPI policy you don't need the information only the account number - just make your complaint for mis selling - it will be rejected they nearly all are - then just take your complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service

    Hi there

    Sorry, lol

You ring the ICO if your having any problems with the bank giving you the information you require, if the bank are unable to send this to you, they should return your payment and a letter to explain why they cannot do so.;)

I would post the letter by recorded delivery and check on the Royal mail website to make sure they have received your request for your agreement, then count 12 days, if you hear nothing then contact the ICO, please keep us posted, cheers.;)

 lloyds have agreed with ombudsman to pay back all premiums plus interest as a "gesture of goodwill"!! - along with £200 compensation. Anyone any good with figures - turboman perhaps?? what the kind of sum is I am looking to receive, as I have to accept and then the figures come to me to accept again - its 5 years at £50 a month that I paid on PPI and the ombudsman say you get an extra 8% per year on payments made - Di especially and everyone else - I owe you a drink. THANKS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH - will post on success board when I get final settlement figure:beer:
