  • I wonder if anyone can help. I have been unaware of an insurance policy called an accident cash plan insurance, it was for a graduate loan years agao and I have been unaware of paying for the insurance even after paying the loan off.

I recieved a letter from the insurance company saying my policy would be terminated if I didn't give then my new bank details as when I closed my last account that is when I realised I was paying for insurance I didn't need.

Doed this count as a PPI, I'm abit ticked off that I didn't stop this insurance years ago, and the fact I had no other correspondance with the company for 7 years.

    Hi

First of all I hope i'm posting this in the right place. I couldn't find the link for a new thread!

I took out a loan in Feb 2008 for £10,000. To obtain the loan I was told I had to take out (I think it was payment protection but could have been a package that included travel ins etc - I suffer with memory)
    I made 4 monthly payments of £256.02.
I paid off the loan in July 2008, was surprised to see £10,096 balance. I questioned this and was told I had to pay the insurance/package off in full.

I then came across this website and sent the 1st letter template asking for my loan agreement. I recieved a reply within a week stating -
"Under the Consumer Credit Act we will act on a s. 77(1) or s. 78(1) request if the regulated agreement has not ended...........As the loan has ended we have no obligation to provide the information you request."

2 questions, 1) is this correct? and 2) What is my next action?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Hi there and welcome.

If this loan was taken out within the last say 5-6 years, you have the right to request any information on your account(s).

You could sent a Subject access request (SAR), here below is the letter template link, but there is a charge for £10 cheque or postal order payment for this request, they have 40 days to comply.
    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1475553

When you requested for a copy of the agreement did you also enclose a postal order or cheque payment of a £1 for this request?

Any problems from them, contact the Information Commissioners Office (ICO) here:
    https://www.ico.gov.uk/Global/contact_us.aspx
Ring them is the quickest method, explain to them your situation, they may help you with this, good luck.;)

just posting with a quick update. Got a letter yesterday from WF denying that I had been mis-sold and saying they are correct and no PPI or interest or charges will be refunded. They claim to have telephone calls asking me if I wanted PPI and I said yes and also twice they told me it was optional so what do I do next. I have already sent a letter to the compliance dept and they seem to have sent it the same day I posted it.:mad:

also have referred it back to the FOS as they went past the 8 wks. so any suggestions as to what to do next as I dont think I will get anything back now

have also posted this on the WF thread am really fed up now

    Hi there

I would request for the copy of the telephone calls, ask them for these for ASAP.

There maybe other useful stuff on the recordings.....;), it was the recordings for one of ours that helped us with when the FOS dealt with it.

    Hi there

Well if you did not know you had this then I would complain.

Useful link here with templates, but add your own reasons, give them 8 weeks to resolve this, keep on at them, in the final letter they should give you details of the financial ombudsman service (FOS) if eligible.

  • Dear all,

I have only been made aware of this PPI issue two weeks ago when alliance and Leicester contacted myself to state that there had been issues inregtards to miselling of PPI. I am in the process of trying to regain PPI from them at present via Martin's template.

My query is this, I took out a loan with Natwest in 2002, it was approximately 5000 over five years. I topeed it up on a number of occassions till I was paying 385 per month from Feb 2004 untill Feb 2006. I was paying PPi as i was rather naive in my financial dealings back then even though I did not need it as I am more then covered in my line of employment (civil service).

Am I entitled to claim back on the Natwest loans? sorry of this has already been asked, any help would be appreciated!!

    Thanks Di,
The more I think of it t the more of a rip off it seems, I think i was paying well over the odds so have just been in contact with Natwest.

Apparently i have to raise a job at my bank in order to get my loan numbers whatever that means!!

    Hi Anthony

I know what you mean and then going back then I take it many of us assumed it was all part of the loan, expensive as well.....

I have not got a clue what they mean by that, but it may be worth maybe putting it into writing and enclose a £1 postal order or cheque payment to cover this request (copy of the agreement), and they have 12 days to supply it.

However, as its gone past 6 years, it may be more difficult in retrieving this, but if you know you had the ppi, you can continue to reclaim on it anyway, where normally in the first response, they send the copy within that letter.;)

If you any old bank statements from them, you should be able to track the number that way.

But if you decide to request for the copy of the agreement, give details of your DOB and any address if different then ( of when you taken this out).
