Hi Pinknico, thanku i hope she does too, i first wrote 1st letter in Dec, then 2nd in Feb and they sent me 2 in Feb asking me to be patient but they would look into my complaint by the 25th April, then recieved this questionaire, the charges complaint was sent at the same time. And i will ring the FO and see what they say about citi, oh i forgot to mention it does say if i am not happy or dont understand anything in the letter then to write to them at the given address, they do waffle on about their charges are fair and they have reduced them.

Barclays are messing you about, either send them second letter for charges or go straight to FOS and either send back questionnaire on PPI or contact FOS.They have had over 8 weeks to deal with both complaints.
FOS may say to send second letter to citi if citi have said write again if not happy.DS1 12/10/04

Has anyone reclaimed PPI from barclay loans or barclaycards?0
-
So Di we cannot go to the FOS as this loan was started before they joined? That is a bit annoying to say the least. Thought that as they were now bound by the scheme we could have recourse etc.
I think we will try at least a second letter - no harm in that and then threaten the small claims court.
Thanks again Di.
Will keep you posted on progress.

Hi All,
I got a letter from lloyds tsb the other week about my ppi stating thisThank you for your patience while I investigate the concerns you raised regarding your loan protection insurance. I am sorry to hear that you have had a reason to make a complaint. I have looked into the details of your complaint and am now in a position to provide you with a response based on the information available to me.
It is important to inform you that my decision has been made on behalf of Lloyds tsb bank plc.
You took out a personal loan on 22 November 2001 for £10,000.00 an you elected to protect your risk by purchasing an insurance contract “one off” premium of £2,203.09 plus interest.
As you have raised a number of concerns, i will respond to each individually as outlined below.
Your Concern
You have made me aware that you were unhappy with the sale of the loan protection. You believe that you were miss-sold the policy as the seller implied that taking out the insurance was essential for you to get the associated credit and the seller was very pushy so you felt you could not say no.
My Findings
Lloyds tsb did not lead customers to believe that insurance was compulsory or that the application for credit would be compromised in the absence of cover. Lloyds tsb took steps to ensure the customer was fully aware of the optional nature of cover.
We attach a copy of the consumer credit agreement which you signed and which set out separately
(i) The fact there was a cash loan and a loan for the loan protection insurance together with the respective amounts;
(ii) The monthly repayments for the loan and for the loan protection insurance.
A separate box is completed on the loan agreemPa55w0rd
ent to confirm that you wished to take the optional loan protection and a further box confirmed that the premium had been advanced as part of the loan. You were therefore made fully aware of the optional nature of the policy.
In the absence of any further information from you, I ma afraid that i have no alternative other than to reject your complaint.
You Concern
You believe that you were mis-sold the policy as the seller: did not inform you of what the policy would or would not cover.
My Findings
Lloyds tsb provided customers with a mixture of oral information and written documentation in order to provide the customer with details of what the policy would and would not cover.
Lloyds tsb’s training and staff briefings reminded its advisers of the importance of providing the customer with information concerning the policy including cover and benifits and any significant or unusual restriction or exclusions to its customers. It was also common practice during the interview for the cisutomer to receive a copy of the policy document. The policy document contained a table setting out the benifits and cover under the policy; and the way in which the cover may change dependent upon the circumstances or age of the customer, at point of claim. It was common practice for the adviser to use the table in the policy document to explain what the policy offers and to confirm how the policy benifits would apply to the customers circumstances. I would like to be able to consider you complaint more fully and order to do so will require:
· Details of your discussion with the seller given the points raised above and confirmation of whether you recived the policy document; and
· Details of why you decided to purchase the policy.
I look forward to hearing from you in the near future.
Should I take this to the financial ombudsman?

the letter from Lloyds TSB is not their final response, if you look at the last part they are asking you to provide further information, until they have provided a final response the FOS won't be able to look at your claim
Hi tiggrae,
Thanks for replying.
I don't have details of the discussion with the seller and I don't have details of why I purchased. What I do know is that don't hve them either. Also I know that I would never of taken this out if I knew what PPI was. I also rememenr loosing my job whilist having this loan protection and going into the bank asking if I could not make some payments for a couple of months. but I don't have details of that either.
What should I do?0 -

Hi Stan
Yes you go for it, send them another letter, hope they sort this for you, you can always tell them if you want to, your aware your unable to take this to the FOS, but you will consider taking further action in retrieving your refund of PPI, plus Interest, this may help, good luck and please keep us posted.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0
