PPI Reclaiming Discussion part 4

I'm annoyed  - just got a flyer through the door from "Supermarket My Claims", promising to "wipe out your credit cards & loans". It asks if you have a loan, store card, etc, and says:
"what would it mean to you if your cards and loans were legally unenforceable?
Are your credit cards unfair or misleading?
Our specialist legal team will check if your lender is complying with the Consumer Credit Act.
Contact us today to start clearing your debts."
To qualify it says you have to have a current balance of over £3,000 on your loan, card, etc, and to have started them before April 2007. If so, it says they can help you to stop making repayments, wipe out your outstanding balances "forever" (!!!!) and to repair your credit rating.
Presumably this is PPI. Really annoys me when with the help of this site and the helpful people on the forum, you can do most of this yourself for free. This leaflet is going straight in the recycling bin!!!
Can't see how they can wipe out all your debt anyway!Big thanks to Martin Lewis for helping us start to sort out our finances!!!:A

Hi Beatlefan
Yes your right, its always best to be cautious with these companies.
Do you receive phone calls as well ?
I just tell them, we don't need any help, and to stop calling, but do they heck , we have also told them we have been successful with reclaiming ourselves without the need of paying out a penny, they do get rather stumped.
They seem to be everywhere these days, and with people reading this, be careful, they are not all they seem to be, and if you decide to go that direct PLEASE PLEASE always get plenty of advice first !;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

Good advice as always, Di.
When I heard the leaflet come through the door this morning and found it on the mat, I must admit I opened the door ready to tell the sales rep delivering them to take it back & tell him people could do all this for free! Unfortunately he'd disappeared off down the road with his bundle of leaflets, so I didn't get the chance.
I keep getting e-mails from i-points with the same kind of "offer". At least you get 5 free i-points just for opening and immediately deleting those e-mails!! :rolleyes:Big thanks to Martin Lewis for helping us start to sort out our finances!!!:A

Arh well a few more points for you then lolThe one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
It looks like you were mis-sold - first step is to send out your first letter - see template but use mainly as a guide, it will take a long time and will probably have to go through FOS (call me cynical!) but if FOS uphold your complaint you will be due all PPI paid plus interest of 8% - this is my understanding anyway -my advice - GO GET THEM!!
Thanks for the quick reply i've already contacted my bank this morning and asked them to send me details of my loan protection insurance. I realise it'll probably take awhile but i'm hoping the wait will be worthwhile. It was the first time i'd ever taken out a loan and its easy to see now how you can get sucked into taking out insurance with themWe are all in the gutter but some of us are looking at the stars0 -
Hi, hope your hayfever's a bit better today.
I got a letter back from TPF, thanking me for my letter of complaint! Came back via return of post, so very quick. Generic customer service letter with standard complaints leaflet. They've referred my letter to their specialist PPI "concerns" office in Manchester, so will wait to hear from them. But the 8-week clock is ticking!!They claim their PPI team will contact me within five days to confirm receipt of my complaint. So far, so very good customer service. Pity the PPI wasn't good customer service when they allegedly mis-sold it to me!!
Get well soon!:ABig thanks to Martin Lewis for helping us start to sort out our finances!!!:A

Hi there,
Just after another bit of advice....again!
I've received a letter from Cap One regarding ppi on credit card, they've agreed to refund, although it wasn't mis-sold apparently!
I am so pleased with the result, not a huge amount of money, but badly needed all the same.
Only question i have is, they state in the letter it will be refunded to my Cap One account. I don't want this as they sold my account to a debt agency and its no longer with them!
Am I allowed to state that I accept their offer of a refund, but would like it payable by cheque?
Thanks96 items decluttered so far in 20130 -
