PPI Reclaiming Discussion part 4

Hi all
I'm new to the site, and new to the whole PPI thing, I'll explain why in a bit
Basically, I took out a loan with my bank Natwest in November 2007. It was for a car, my first year insurance, and an exisiting loan was also put in there, so it was around £8,000 in total (without the interest or insurance)
As I was going through the final details with the sales person, he asked me if I wanted to take out insurance on the loan for around £50 a month, my initial response was no, he asked if I was sure, and I said yes.
He then became irrate and said 'You should take out insurance, you might die in your new car', I then again said 'no, it's fine', he then asked 'how would it feel if you died and your mum had to pay back all of your loan?' My response was 'well I'll be dead so I won't feel anything', he then started to go on about my conscience and in the end I buckled and said fine I'll take the insurance.
So that was that and I have been paying back this loan ever since quite happily, but still annoyed about the insurance. I was speaking to a colleague at work the other day and this cropped up, she said I have been pressured into taking out insurance when I had already said no on a number of times, and that I should see about claiming back the costs.
I know of a lot of companies that are willing to help somone like me, but I'm worrying have I got a case or not? I don't want it to get to the final part to find that I have been sold to perfectly fine and that they haven't mislead me in anyway?
Would someone on here know?0 -

Hi hun and welcome.;)
Yes it seems you have a case, as you were obviously "pressurised" into taking this out.
I had to laugh at your comments though "sorry" :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:.
Check this here for more information hun
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance
This link will give you more info and you will also find templates, obviously add your own reasons.
They have 8 weeks to respond in ful, keep at them until you receive the final response in case they try to fob you off, you may also be eligible after you exhaust the complaint procedures of taking your case to the financial ombudman service (FOS).
Post all letter by recorded delivery.
If you decide to use a claims service, please do not go for any who charges upfront fees etc, there are a few free services, and always get advice on these.;)
If you've not got the agreement for this, you can write to them, request for a copy of your agreement, they may give this to you for free but its not guaranteed, its more definate if you enclose a small payment of £1 postal order or cheque payment, they should supply this to you by 12 days of request.
For any more help please post anytime. Good luck.

Hi Di, thanks for putting my mind at ease saying I may have a case.
I've decided to use a company to help me with my case as I think they're the experts in this, and they're charging 20% if my case is successful. I know there are companies that charge cheaper and everything but the company who I'm going with are recommended by a colleague. The person who I spoke to about my claim sent some forms out to me yesterday, so when I get home tonight I'll be filling them in
You seem to be the expert around here Di (:p) , and I was wondering if Natwest have paid anyone back for this? I'm at work at the mo and 147 pages of part 4 of this forum is quite a lot to read through when I'm supposed to be working0 -

Hi As Amersall says you can do this yourself at no cost. Most of these claim companies take it through the FOS anyway so I have been told.
If you do go with a company find one that charges you nothing and gets the costs from the lender not you. 20% is a lot of money.
Anyway good luck in whatever you do.:mad:0 -
