Hi,
I'm looking for some advice about payment protection, I took out a loan back in october 2007 with RBS and payment protection was part of it I was never asked if I wanted it just thought it was part of the loan. I had payment protection for about 3years until I realised that i was making payments but it wasnt bringing down my balance, so I rang customer services to inqure why and they told me it was because of the payment protection, they were basically saying there was nothing that could be done about it, untill i said that i didnt actully want it in the first place, thats when they said i could cancel it. I just wounred if anyone knows if i still have a claim, I have most if not all my statements.
hope someone can help
thanks

Have been awarded £3k - which is the original premium + 8%interest. I can now pay of remaining loan - will be £100 month better of. There is some left for rainy day.
Thankyou mse peeps for being there. nothing ventured nothing gained.:rotfl:
Great news, congrats! Can I ask how long Egg took to give a final response? I chased them today 6 weeks after complaining, they couldn't tell me any more than the fact it was still being investigated, and that most were taking the full 8 weeks.0 -

What they're saying to other people, is that it was sold on a non-advice thingermy, so therefore it's the customer's fault for buying something they don't need. I don't believe I actively opted for it, but can't prove that.
Will this be of any use to me:

edit: the time it says there is between Jan 05 and April 06. I took my card out in January 06. Does that mean they were likely to have not sent T&C to me?
You could use the fact they were fined, and use all reasons you can for being mis sold this ppi, when you get a response (unless it is a win) i will help you more.0 -

Also just found out my up front ppi only lasted for five years out of the seven year term , so now i have a loan which ppi was forced upon us , was front loaded which was never explained to us and sold us a policy that doesn't last for the full term of the loan, how did rbs get away with this ? , unfortunately i have already sent the forms off and at the time didn't know about or understand front loaded ppi or the fact thebpolicy only covered us for 5 years out of seven ... Should i write them another letter or just wait for a reply ?0

Hi Bulky, don't worry too much about not mentioning these things, the fact that it was upfront is quite often enough to get a positive result. Wait to see what response you get and if not positive hit them with all your other gripesSuccesses
