Before I try to claim the mis-sold PPi from Barclaycard, should I cancel it. It's a card I haven't used much recently, but i've discovered the PPi is still on there.

Would it be better for my claim if I cancel it first?

It won't hurt to cancel the ppi on a card they will do it anyway when you put a claim in if you Win but it should'nt make any difference to your claim.

can anyone tell me why barclays have sent me a cheque for my overdraft ppi, instead of using the award to reduce my outstanding overdraft debt which is in a dmp? They reduced my loan with the loan ppi award, is the overdraft treated differently?
I also have credit card claims with them but it has been about 12 weeks now and i havent heard anything.

Can't answer the first question del as too the second be patient it will get sorted out they are all behind.

thanks, i dont mind the cheque anyway, and best case senario is its helping towards funds to maybe be in a position to make a full and final offer in the coming months, other debts have been reduced by successes so things are looking good in any case

by the way, one company has already cold called me and said they would accept a 25% reduction in full and final, i wont be offering them that though:rotfl:
  • Hi Folks,

I sent off three PPI claims last week and am currently awaiting any news, however in the meantime I've been reading through this forum and people's posts.

I now believe I have jumped the gun on two of my claims,

    (i) Gnatwest : I sent in a claim with the complaints of being told I had to take PPI (which was true but very hard to prove). Captain hindsight says : I should have got loan details first and then complained.

(ii) Coop : I sent in a claim with the complaints of being told I had to take PPI (which again was true but very hard to prove) Captain hindsight says : looking at the PPI agreement (which I have sent them a copy) it is a front loaded premium which by all accounts is the best complaint.

So my questions are basically :

    (1) Re Gnatwest : If the claim is rejected, can I go through the SAR route and complain again?
    (2) Re Coop : Will they take into account that the PPI was front loaded? Or can I complain again, this time about the front loaded premium?

Really should look before I leap :o

    Cheers folks

    Hi,
Can anyone help, submitted a letter to Dixons complaining about the way PPI was missold it was a pre-crossed box (I wasn't asked if I wanted it) I sent a letter to Dixons on advice of FOS (Halifax Cetelem were named on finance agreement jointly with Dixons)that because Dixons were broker any complaint should be sent to them, which I duly did. Anyway received a letter back today saying that the because this account was taken out on July 2002, before PPI was regulated, we would have to send claim to Halifax Cetelem!
This seems like nonsense to me are they just passing the buck or hoping I won't pursue it or is it me talking nonsense?

    Thanks
PS I don't think Halifax Cetelem are even a company any more and FOS seemed to think that if it was missold that Dixons would be liable for any compensation as they were the broker.
  • Hi! What was the purpose of the loan? Do your have your policies terms and conditions? If so, what do they say about cancelling your policy early? If you were consolidating and rebate you received on your policy was not proportionate to the amount of time left on the policy then it has been missold. Don't worry about putting in a claim u have absolutely nothing to lose! Cheers

Got a letter from egg. I didn't want to open it - thought I was going to be disappointed. When I did was over the moon. Have been awarded £3k - which is the original premium + 8%interest. I can now pay of remaining loan - will be £100 month better of. There is some left for rainy day.

Thankyou mse peeps for being there. nothing ventured nothing gained.:rotfl:

    Wot u like? :D
Wait and see what response you get, post on here what they say and we can help you more unless they are wins.
You could give them a ring and see if they will accept other reasons,as you did not fill the form in with the correct info initially.
Front loaded is good, maybe the other loan was the same?,look here for reasons for mis sell and give these too.

If they wont accept these reasons now, then as i said above wait for the responses, you can go back to them them if they reject.

Contact FOS and see what they say to the reply you got, they will know if they were regulated in 02,if they were not, then you need to go after the insurer,FOS can help you with this.

If you have the card number and reasons for mis sell, part time may help,if you had to have worked 16 hours or more to make a claim for unemployment.
Look here for reasons for mis sell
    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-credit-card-insurance#step2
If any/all apply to you then put a claim in,see what response you get back, and we will take it from there.
Thank you so much for your reply.

What they're saying to other people, is that it was sold on a non-advice thingermy, so therefore it's the customer's fault for buying something they don't need. I don't believe I actively opted for it, but can't prove that.

Will this be of any use to me:

edit: the time it says there is between Jan 05 and April 06. I took my card out in January 06. Does that mean they were likely to have not sent T&C to me?
