PPI Reclaiming Discussion part 4

Hello,
In July I initiated a PPI claim from the Halifax relating to mis-sold PPI on a loan I had taken out some years back. This is not quite a success story yet, I just hope it wont be much longer before I can say it is. After claiming for a refund in July I eventually received a redress letter from the Halifax on October 28th accepting my claim and stating that I would be compesdated to the amount of £3680. Wonderful I though, but not so yet. Halifax state that they will pay refunds within 6 weeks of the redress letter. When this did not happen I contacted them by phone and they said that the delay was caused because I needed to sign a new loan agreement as the loan was still active and they were going to recalculate the loan balance. I then on a weekly basis for this form to sign so that I could receive my refund. Eventually after many weeks and many phone calls, the Halifax stated that they had made a mistake and I did not have to complete a new loan agreement after all. I then asked if they would then release my refund to which they replied no, the reason being that because the refund had been delayed for so long they had to escalate it to management level. They then stated that this process could take up to another 4 weeks but the matter will be resolved and I would get my money. Well that 4 weeks was up today, 11 weeks after the redress letter reached me. I contacted the Halifax to find out the status of things only to find that nothing had been done but the customer service advisor kindly offered to send an email escalating it once again. I dont know whats going on now or what indeed I can do to get my money, can anyone help.:(0 -
Would anyone by chance have the addresses of where to send a SAR letter to for Lloyds, Barclays, etc.
Thanks0 -
Decided to reclaim PPI's this year and yesterday I sent off the first two letters by recorded delivery, today I got a call from Santander saying they have recieved it and have decided to pay out on it and will be making an offer plus 8% interest within 8 weeks. Result? We'll see.
Now for some advice from the wise. I want to make a claim against Barclaycard, I've had a card with them since '99 with ppi on it. I never wanted to pay extra for PPI, but have claimed on it, both times for illness and only for a total of 3 months that was pre '05. I had phoned Barclaycard to close my account with them in 2005 and they said they would freeze the account. I phoned again in '06, my reason being it was their 40th anniversary and they might have some promotional rates going (They didn't) and have used it since. Would I be able to claim back to '99 or would it be better to claim since '06? Any advise would be appreciatedI'm back after a break :money:0 -
Thanks Amershall,
I have looke at their letter again. They claim no ppi was attached to that other Personal Loan [but how do I know they're telling the truth- or do I just take their word for it].
The secured Loan was taken out in August 2002 for £45k and paid off in July 2006. It was with Abbey (Santander).
They have not mentioned the secure Loan or credit card in their response.
In that case would it be safe to accept the offer for the 2 personal loans, while I request for an SAR and then pursue the remaining accounts?
Is it possible that they will construe my acceptance of this particular offer as final settlement for all the other accounts I complained about even though in their offer letter only this two personal loans account were highlighted?
Is there a chance that they could be looking into the other Loans separately?
I wouldn't want them to withdraw the offer, so I may just accept it on the condition that the secured Loan, Mortgage and credit card is looked into. But the problem is, unless I obtain the SAR, I do not know for sure if I paid ppi on those.
Thanks a million.
Give them a ring and ask if they are looking at the secured loan and the credit card, how many calculations did they give you,was it 2 amounts or more?.
If as you say it was just 2 amounts and the account numbers for the 2 are on the letter, then accept this.
If they say they are looking at the secured loan and cc,then you will get a response in due course,i would still do the SAR anyway.0 -

You can bet this had ppi on,and more than likely it would have had frontloaded ppi, this was a loan on the loan paid back over the term with interest,it is in your best interest to get the SAR done,as if they say you did not have ppi on,and you did,it is a lot of money to lose, unless they are already dealing with this and the credit card.0 -
I recently recieved a BACS payment from Lloyds for my PPI claim. After a very long wait and numerous phone calls and emails it arrived in my natwest account on the 25th August. I then recieved a letter on the 19th December explaining because of the late payment Lloyds have added interest onto my PPI claim. I thought this would arrive in my natwest account the same way. On the 9th January i decided to check my old Lloyds account which i havent used in ages and have been meaning to close down. To my shock Lloyds had paid the full PPI claim again and interest on top. Now i do have other claims with them but im pretty sure this isnt for them. I since emailed Lloyds and Phoned them but no reply and couldnt get threw on the phone. What do i do now the 2nd payment was made on the 23rd December, i dont want to spend any of it just in case and have put it in a savings account. If anyone could help please
Put it in writing that you have recieved this payment and could they confirm what it is for, give them 14 days to respond,if they dont give FOS a ring and complain.
You need to know what this money is for,no point you sitting on it if it is other claims they have paid.0 -

Credit cards only go back for 6 years, unless you have proof that you paid ppi (statements) previous to this,if you are lucky and get redress from 99 (if you have proof of ppi) they will take the money you claimed off the redress.
Look here for reasons for mis sell

If any/all apply to you then make a claim, you could try both and see what comes back.0 -

paid_too_much wrote: »Hi
got a 2nd rejection for my PPI refund form Santander.
They have attached my original agreement which has the application for PPI crossed out. Santander agree I did not apply for cover at the time I took out the card in store.
They claim that it was sold to me by their telemarketing department on 20th April 2004.
They say
'we are unable to retrieve a recording of the call, as due to the length of time elapsed we are no longer obliged to hold this data. However I can confirm that we are aware of when the insurance was sold and how, due to an insurance maintenance screen, which in addition confirms if the insurance was upgraded'
So you would think I would hold all the cards and they'd cave, but no they are refusing to refund me. This card was a Mothercare card which I used once to buy a pram (and then only made min payments on ooops!) I was on SMP and my husband was supporting me at the time, that aside I feel miffed that I should have to prove that it was mis sold when like MBNA and Capital One they have just added it to my account without my consent. This doesn't amount to thousands but they have my money.
I'm trying to write an email to them in response but keep being blinded by rage, anyone help me with a few unemotional lines?
Any help appreciated.
I do not accept your rejection of my complaint on the grounds of it being sold to me on a telemarketing call. If i had wanted ppi i would have taken it in store and not later through a telemarketing call.
( put in here what you put above, sahm etc)
As you only have the "insurance screen" as proof i took ppi, this does not prove that i took this product knowing what it was for and if it had been explained to me in full, the cost and what i would be covered for and if i was eligible
.
I request that you look at this claim again and if you have no more proof other than a screen that says i took ppi,i expect a full refund of ppi that i paid,if i do not get a favourable response within 14 days,i will contact the FOS for a fair hearing.0
