    Hi Everyone,

I applied for an egg credit card between 2004 -2006 would I still be eligible to try and claim back PPI. I also had a loan with Halifax proabably around 1996-1997 would it be possible to claim on this and if so how would I go about getting the info required from Halifax.

    Thanks Ian

Hi ian yes to both initial questions, as to the info you could try just going into your local branch for info, if you don't want to do that try ringing them, depends on how forthcoming they are but i would'nt go down the cca or sar route until you've done this first

I spoke to M&S Money who said that PPI had to be specifically requested when they issued Mastercard credit cards in 2003. I assume therefore the onus is on the cardholder to prove they paid for PPI. Not being a fan of insurance companies, it's certainly not something I would usually have gone for!

    Hi there,

Was wondering if any of you good people would be able to give me some advice. I have been reading through the forum for a couple of months and have had a success so far from MBNA CC - sent them the questionnaire from here on 4 November 2011, received a letter from them on 11 November 2011 saying there were investigating. On 23 November received letter upholding claim!!, cheque will be sent within 28 days. Received a cheque on 1 December 2011 for just under £3,500. To say I am happy is an understatment!!! Christmas was very good.

However, have today received rejection from Barclays on a loan which dates back from early 2001. Loan was for £5,000 over 5 year period. Loan was paid off in 2006. When I took out the loan I distinctly remember being told that as I was a single parent I could not have the loan unless I took the PPI. At the time working full time for a company who would have paid me up to 6 months full pay and also at the time I had a mortgage and had full mortgage protection.

Barclays say this is their final response and I now need to go to the Ombudsman. My question is should I go direct to the FOS or try going back to Barclays.

    Any advice would be welcome.

    Metoyou

    Hi, well do0ne with MBNA

Barclays Bank are just one who are clogging up the FOS with their "fob offs". They are knowingly doing this so they do not have to pay out for months ahead. Even more disturbing is the statement made by Bob Diamond the CEO of Barclays that his firm would not quibble regarding payouts. BOB DIAMOND LIED ?

Ignore the final response rubbish, the only "final" you will accept is when the repay the money they stole from you. They committed fraud against you.

See the list below, if you can answer NO to any of them, you will be able to claim. DO NOT GIVE UP

*Did YOUR BANK explain the full cost of the PPI when you took out the loan?
*Did you specifically ask YOUR BANK for PPI?
*Did YOUR BANK make clear that PPI was optional?
*Did YOUR BANK ask you about your medical history?
*Did YOUR BANK ask you about any existing payment cover?
*Did you know that YOUR BANK added a PPI policy to your loan?
*Do you think YOUR BANK treated you fairly?
*Did YOUR BANK ask if you have any existing medical conditions?
*Did YOUR BANK ask if you were entitled to sick pay from your employer?

If you answered no to any one of the above you could be owed thousands of pounds

    Hi,

Just had a rejection letter from Nationwide for PPI on an old mortgage with Dunfermline Building Society I had about 12 years ago.

I complained it was missold for the following reasons:

    * We were not told it was optional, we were told it was compulsary to get the mortgage
    * We were not told what it would and would not cover
    * We were not asked if we had appropriate cover elsewhere
    * Sales person pushy in selling policy
    * We had adequate cover through our employers (full pay for 6 months, then 6 months at 75%)
    * We were concerned that sales assistant who sold us the policy had no financial background & the policy was not sold in our best interests

They rejected it on the basis of:

    * Dunfermline Building Society never insisted on the purchase of a MPPI policy
    * Purchasing the policy had no influence on whether I would be granted the mortgage
    * Their representatives were under no obligation to ask about my employee benefits
    * Their representatives are sufficiently trained & it was up to me to decide whether or not the policy met my needs.

Can anyone please advise how to respond to this? Do I ask them to reconsider claim or do I have go to the Ombudsman?

What are my chances that they will reconsider and uphold my complaint?

So Nationwide are now joining in the rubbish spouted by the banks

    * Their representatives were under no obligation to ask about my employee benefits
THEY WERE UNDER OBLIGATION TO ENSURE THAT THE POLICY WAS SUITABLE FOR YOUR NEEDS. THAT INCLUDES ASKING ABOUT WHAT OTHER COVER YOU HAD
    * Their representatives are sufficiently trained & it was up to me to decide whether or not the policy met my needs.
IF THEY DID NOT ASK THE RIGHT QUESTIONS, THEY WERE NOT SUFFICIENTLY TRAINED

Use the list below AND make your claim for the full amount plus interest

*Did YOUR BANK explain the full cost of the PPI when you took out the loan?
*Did you specifically ask YOUR BANK for PPI?
*Did YOUR BANK make clear that PPI was optional?
*Did YOUR BANK ask you about your medical history?

i have received an offer for my ppi claim but its complicated by the facts that the acc in qustion was a joint one with an ex partner. She didnt financially contribute to the loan, but was named from day 1 until the loan was repaid. In my offer it mentions that the offer will be split 50/50 between both parties - is this correct if i was the one who made all financial contributions???

    Dave, Cheshire

Hi DAVE, One assumes the payments came from your bank account and they must refund to that account

Lets put it another way, if your ex had a cheque made payable to her (assume its a her), and her name was not on the account, the bank cannot accept it if it was paid into your account

Thanks Cappo for the reply. So with the egg card its just a case of filling in the questionairre and sending it off, With the halifax its just a trip to the nearest branch as they shut my local one down a few years ago.:). I would probably need to contact both anyway for account numbers.

    Hi Beamerguy,

Thanks very much for your reply.

Should I go back to Nationwide with what you said above or do you think I will have more success with the FOS? x
