  • We had a loan with Lloyds that we took out in 1997 and finished in 2002. I have found an old statement that clearly says loan insurance included in the monthly payments of £275.

Because of the amount of time that has passed, I am assuming that if I write to Lloyds asking for a copy of the loan agreement they will say they no longer hold it - however i have proof (albeit flimsy) that we did pay PPI on the loan.

Since we both started work in the 80's our employers have provided full sick pay and as we both work in the public sector we would have received full redundancy payments as well.

So knowing what I know now we would not have taken PPI and we never claimed on it anyway.

Do you think we have a valid claim or are we too late?

    Your thoughts please.
  • Hi all. Found 3 old loan agreements last week, 2 from 2003 1 from 2004, I had already sent a SAR to YB for a CC and quite a few loans. They have sent all statements for the last 6 years from the visa card. But the loans have some missing??? A few of the loans were used to pay previous loans off, so where it says purpose of loan, on a couple of the applications, it states the loan number of the loan, before that was getting paid off, so there's 2 more loans there they have missed. Also both of the loans from 03 that we found papers for are missing aswell? I thought that they had to produce all loans or have I misunderstood? Hope iv explained this ok? Any advice much appreciated!!

At first I thought maybe the records didn't go back to 2003 but they have sent 1 loan from 2002??

This depends, read the check list below, if you can say NO to one or more then you have a claim

*Did YOUR BANK explain the full cost of the PPI when you took out the loan?
*Did you specifically ask YOUR BANK for PPI?
*Did YOUR BANK make clear that PPI was optional?
*Did YOUR BANK ask you about your medical history?
*Did YOUR BANK ask you about any existing payment cover?
*Did you know that YOUR BANK added a PPI policy to your loan?
*Do you think YOUR BANK treated you fairly?
*Did YOUR BANK ask if you have any existing medical conditions?
*Did YOUR BANK ask if you were entitled to sick pay from your employer?
  • I firmly believe I have a valid claim, its just the amount of time that has passed may make it time barred (is that the right term?)

Any clarity that anyone can provide is more than welcome.

Time barred is normally referred to when after a period of time, it is not possible to persue. However, if your bank committed fraud with a mis-sold policy, the case is open still
  • Beamerguy, Amersall, Di - calling one of you experts. HELP NEEDED!

Hi, can you please help me out. I received a letter from Barclays regarding 1 of 3 claims against them, it was for an old loan of £5000 where I had PPI on it. I know it was mis-sold however they have written back to me to say that the claim has been declined. All the usual garbage in the letter...like we cannot find any issue with how you were sold the PPI etc.

I need some guidance on what to do next. Thanks.

OK, see the check list below, if you can say NO to any of these you can claim back. Complain directly to the CEO of barclays
