Firstly let me say what an excellent resource this site is / has been to me over the last two weeks. I will try and keep this brief.

I have two (possibly three) decent claims I believe, as had I needed to claim I suspect I wouldn't have got anywhere so I was sold something I could not use and in one case I think it was included as it was a pre-populated option.

    Here goes.

Claim1: Currently still have this credit card and use it, 9 time out of 10 the balance is paid in full each month. From the T&C's I don't think I would be able to claim due to being covered elsewhere and already having critical illness cover and a policy that protects should I be made redundant. I suspect this was added via a pre-populated field online, it was taken out in 2004 and I still have it now.

My first questi?n is should I cancel it (the PPI) or try to cancel before claiming. I think by making a claim it will be cancelled? My 2nd question is should I claim myself (I'm siding towards this) our pay a 3rd party to do it for me - this will become clearer with claim 2.

Claim 2: A bit more complex (and possibly creating a 3rd claim), A credit card I took out in the late 90's and closed / cancelled in July 2011. I opened it with Abbey National, so I assume I am now claiming against Santander? Abbey / Santander transferred this credit card to MBNA, don't have the dates to hand, would this then be another claim with MBNA for the time it was with them?

With Claim 2 do I actually have 2 claims here? one for the period it was with Abbey/Santander and 1 for the period it was with MBNA? It does go back a number of years so again would I perhaps be better getting a 3rd party to do it on my behalf?

I am siding with doing it all myself, the doubts I have are about the length of time I am going back and the fact claim 2 was with Abbey then Santander then MBNA. Again I am pretty sure I would have taken it out in branch however I would not have been able to use it had I tried to make a claim. Clearly this was just carried over to MBNA.

I am looking at filling in the forms today, just not sure if a 3rd party would be the better way to go.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.
If you are severly unable to got to the post box and post a letter, then use a claims co :D:D:D
Really though, that is all a company will do and gladly take a hefty % of your win.

First of all cancel ppi on any cards you have,do not do this if it is a loan.
Look here for reasons for mis sell
    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-credit-card-insurance#step2
If any/all apply to you,put a claim in,you only need the card number,or if a loan then the account number, most do claims over the phone now,so try this first.

With the Abbey and MBNA you should put a claim into both and see what response you get,i think primarily it will be MBNA,but they may not pay all the ppi back and refer you to Abbey.

Have a go yourself and save yourself money,if you need anymore help just ask.
