PPI Reclaiming Discussion part 4

Hi Di and Co,
Just an update. Received my Hsbc offer through the post today dated 4th September for my current personal loan and previous three personal loans all with ppi. I was worried that they would try and pull a fast one. Having done some calculations I'd worked out I'd paid roughly £6800 in ppi payments accross the life of my many loans. The offer they have given me is just over £7k inclduing 8% interest.
My letter states that if I'm happy I can sign away, but also states that as I have a loan current it will need to restructured without ppi before I get a refund. Oddly they have said my local branch will be calling me in to sort out the paperwork. Timelines for a refund are 5 working days after they have got paperwork and loan restuctured.
So will be on the phone shortly to book an appointment with my branch next week! Saves waiting around...
Thanks for all the support and excellent advice! :j
Well after being given the run around by hsbc and 16 working days passing with no payment of monies due, I fired off a number of angry emails to the chief executive and head of complaints. Duly got responses back from both saying my complaints were being looked at, and hey presto on the 5th was paid my money.
BUT imagine my surprise when I checked my account tonight to find that hsbc had debited me over £6k in bank redress. After picking myself up off the floor I see I've got -£4.5k in debit on my account. Duly rang up and was met with a response that they don't know why that has been done and it'll be investigated in five working days, but nothing can be done, and all my pending payments will not be honoured as I only have an overdraft of £150. To say I'm angry is an understatement!
They are absolute cowboys and messing with people's lives. I'm going to give the RSC people a piece of my mind on monday. :mad:0 -

I took out a loan in one of those reviews the Royal Bank od Scotland pesters people to attend. At the time I accepted it to pay off a credit card bill. The insurance was incorporated into the loan. In other words you couldn't have the loan without insurance. I completed the claim form and waited about three months. I then recieved 3 letters. One offered me £202.62. Another offered £372.20 and the third offered me £4332.72! I signed them all to say I accepted them and returned them. A week later I recieved 3 more letters. One offered me £327.90, another offered me £423.84 and the final one informed me that as i had refused insurance on the loan I wasn't entitled to anything. I took them to the bank and asked for an explanation. They phoned the team responsible who said "Yes" i am entitled to all the money and if I signed them all and returned them all, the money would be paid into my account. I only have one loan!Altogether I should be getting - £5659.28 enough to pay off the loan with a bit left over..... Yippee! thank you so much Martin0

Thanks for that Johunter - looks like they are taking the mick out of me.
Have chased em up again and am awaiting a call back - wont hold my breath.
Matty, I received a letter yesterday from Head of Customer Relations concerning my complaint that I'd emailed to the CEO and funnily enough the letter was written the same day as the money was paid into my account (coincidence?). Maybe it's time for you to email the CEO with your complaint, you do seem to have been waiting a long time for your payment.0 -

Unfortunately after 3 years of trying to claim PPI back from Nationwide, my husband today has received a letter from the Ombudsman to say they cannot uphold his complaint
This is because DH is saying they told him he had to take PPI and Nationwide are saying he chose to have it. DH says he was very upset at being told he had to take it at the time and felt cheated. The Ombudsman says there's no proof either way and no recordings available of the phone conversation.
DH is most upset. He said it honestly wasn't about the money so much as the cheek of Nationwide and he feels sad that a big company like that have got one up on one of us.
Very sad. I do also wonder if it might have been a different story if we'd put in a claim now instead of 3 years ago, as I know a lot of banks are paying out more these days.
Very frustrating.Thrilled to be DEBT-FREE as of 26.03.10

My husband has had a credit card for over 25 years. He is unsure with whom he originally took the card out but they were taken over by MBNA years ago. He was a college lecturer at the time and so had ample cover from the education authority. He probably filled in a form and posted it off to apply for the original card. He has a large credit limit and twice in the past few years we have bought cars with the card so he has always had a large balance. He has always paid more than the minimum and has never missed a payment.
He seems to think the original card was with Bank of Scotland (not RBS) but I am not sure. Does this sound right to anyone? If we put a claim in with his current card number will they automatically go back to the previous company and check that account as naturally there was a different account number on that card and we do not have any old details?
Any advice on how to proceed will be gratefully received.0
