hi all
been a while since i last posted but today had a bit of a developement from Barclaycard.
A few months ago I started the PPI claim process by asking Barclaycard for a copy of my t&c's. They replied saying they were unable to supply these and admitted they couldn't enforce the terms of the credit agreement but that i should continue to pay my bill each month. which i have done.
I then wrote back saying I would notify the required authorities, they came back with exactly the same letter as before with one extra sentence added that states they will not enter into anymore correspondence on the matter.
imagine my suprise when i went to use the card yesterday to find it was declined. got on the phone first thing this morning to find out why and they informed me they had blocked the card as of the 1st of August (which is rubbish as i used it in August)and closed the account.
when i asked why i han't been informed of this they said the way the letter was worded about them being unable to enforce the terms was notification that the account was to be closed.
when i pointed out that the card was actually in credit by over £100 the young man on the end of the phone didn't know what to say, espescially when i pointed out they were preventing me access to my money.
are they right in what they are saying???? were they within their right to cancel the card just because i asked for a copy of the t&c's????
can i still carry on with the claim??? who should i turn to now????0 -

Hi there
What on earth are they playing at?
I would complain to the FOS on the way you have been treated here, this is just not on or a way to treat a customer.
Yes, don't let nothing stand in the way of the reclaim.
I would write and tell them your unhappy with how they have dealt with your account and closing your account with nothing in writing to confirm this. I would also say that luckily no emergencies arised but if it had and you had needed money straight away, you would have been left in the lurch.
Ask if they would resolve this and re-open your account as a valued customer you believe you should be treated fairly, and mention they have a lenders code to follow.
If they do nothing by 8 weeks, then complain to the FOS.
Keep this separate to the ppi reclaiming.
Hope this helps, and hopefully someone else will have some suggestions here for you as well, good luck. The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
thanks
i wil get on it tomorrow0 -

Hi mate had exactly the same as you, put a reclaim in on a morgan stanley card (barclaycard) raised a complaint about how the card was originally sold by morgan stanley, barclays rejected the complaint so i put it into the fos and lo and behold last month got a letter cancelling my card through lack of use, i think barclays are just throwing there toys out of there pram but as di says report them to the fos as this is unacceptable behaviour especially as they've got your money. there pretty pathetic arn't they, they just can't see why people would want the money they'd defrauded them out of back can they.0 -

Maybe you could try emailing the CEO.
david.chan@barclaycard.co.uk, this avenue worked for me.
Well done to all the recent winners, seem to be coming thick and fast, especially nice to see regulars who go out of their way to help us all, having their claims upheld.0 -
Hi,
You may remember that I got a letter fom Funding corp stating that they didn't think my policy was missold, but if I was unhappy I could get back to them. I phoned and stated I was unhappy with response and sent SAR to them.
A few days after SAR info sent to me, they sent me a final response letter. You would think that as I had verbally informed them that I would be taking it further and the SAR, they would have delayed final response letter.
I emailed them in Sept to redress misselling points and raise new points of misselling. I have received no correspondence from them, so decided to phone today.
Not really about complaint, but why I had acknowledgement of email.
Anyway, I was then told they are not obliged to respond as complaint has been closed, I stated that I had raised new complaints and they told me that they would not be investigating this as they had issued their final response.
Is this right?
thanks0
