Reading the success stories makes me hanker after a response from the FOS; any ideas how long it takes for them to respond and has anyone got any updates on responses from/involving Capital One. I'm sorry I can't keep track of the thread.

    Hiya

How long has your complaint been with the FOS?

Normally you receive a confirmation letter within a week or 2, the letter will explain they will be in touch when its been passed on to the adjudicator, but they do normally let you know ever 2 months of an update, so it may either still be waiting to be passed on, or it will confirm it has been passed on and to who etc.

It's difficult to predict a timescale, and due to backlogs as well, they are stating anything from 6 months to maybe approx 18 months.
Hope your not waiting as long as that though, fingers crossed.;)

  • Lloyds TSB Offer

Hi all, have been away recently, so catching up on posts. Really pleased to see so many successes.

My offer from Lloyds arrived today - it was for a credit card, but I am unhappy with the figures quoted and would like some advice please. I rang them this morning and said that I thought they had made a mistake with regard to the interest, and they said if not happy it would have to go through to the FOS which obviously will take quite a time, so please can you have a look at the figures and let me know what you think?

    Refund of premiums = £5,714.72
    Refund of interest at 8% = £63.44
Interest at 8%, calculated up until October 2011 = £38.10

    Total = £5,816.26

The credit card is still running with a high balance but the PPI only run from September 2004 until I cancelled it in May 2006, so no PPI since 2006.

Interest seems extremely low, don't you agree?

  • Afternoon Lovely Forumites,

I have received PPI refunds from Egg, MBNA, Santander to name but a few. I remembered that I took out a Halifax loan back in 2004 (paid off) and looked through the paperwork to find that I had paid a staggering £2934.00 in PPI. I looked at the Halifax website and it said that you can ring them in the first instance, therefore I did. I spoke to a polite young man who asked me why I thought I was mis-sold the loan and like the others I told him I was in full employment and would receive full sick pay for 2 years should anything happen and full redundancy pay. I was sold the loan in branch by a bit a of a pushy Halifax rep who told me that I "really do need it". I was naive back then.

My question is this was only a phonecall today, no FOS questionnaire and the nice chap gave me a reference number and said that my complaint would be looked into. Does this sound right? It sounded all too easy. Have Halifax been 'good' to others on here or am I building my hopes up for an eternal wait and stalling tactics?

Any advice would be gladly received :)

U have the opposite problem to me lol I think mine looking too high

With regards to my credit card PPI refund tho i did notice it stated on the bottom of mine interest worked out at the card rate, am really not sure how it all works etc but going by this if u had a 0% deal on card this may make a difference to interest due?? as i say have no idea just an assumption as to what was stated on my cc refund calculations, I know loan and cc are worked out differently.

Yours is looking too high!!!! hope you are not going to query it!!!

Well done on your win, lovely to get back our money again isn't it. What really makes me angry is that as much as they pay you some interest, it really does not take into account the years since, having to take out other credit, re-mortgageing, bank charges etc., because they 'stole' out money in the past, we are all still out of pocket in the long run. I will never trust another bank again and would like to change banks, but don't know which one as all the same.....

They still owe me 15 months tho  have the bank statements etc showing payments up to June 2005 (theyve said last payment Feb 2004) and the credit card refund that they worked out was for same dates....am really gonna cancel 1 as was null and void from time taken out, and continue paying the other for a further 15 months.... not!!! lol not sure what to do tho...... if the initial calculation is wrong then i gonna draw attention to it...... if not am quids in lol oh the dilemaaaa lol

Ur right tho is great to be getting back, and without MSE id never have gone ahead and checked everything even tho every 2nd advert on TV at moment is re PPI claims lol.. big ty to all on this forum for help given xx:T:T:T:T:T

Not sure about Halifax but my claim with Santander was very quick call, doubted whether advisor had even logged it to be honest (apologises to advsior lol) I called up a week later and asked was there a claim registered in my name was told yes...received offer shortly after. from start to finish was 17 days.... maybe give them a call in a few days see if they have it logged....
