oh my
Cappo she isn't related to Martin on here by any chance is she?
Ha ha hsbc would know about it if she was, what treatment,i had exactly the same with them when they wanted to get me to take ppi out for my last loan, the bank closed they wanted to keep me there all night i think, twisters0 -
Yes I did think of that, the a/c holding branch isnt too far from me, but I did ask advise at our local branch and they said that they wouldn't have it in branch as it was too long ago.
I think my concern is that i've read so much, & got all confused now about what forms I need to fill in and who to send them to! I'll write and request the copy of the original agreement, & see what they come back with, as I'm assuming that I'd need it anyway, so once I've got that do I just write & complain with maybe a template letter, or is there a sort of sequence of forms & letters to fill in?
Sorry to appear dim.....I'm not.....I'm just confused!!!!
It seems like being blinded with science to start with doesnt it,it's not hard though if you have the info, patience and time to sort things out anythings easy.0 -

Has anyone been refunded PPI and found they're still paying it on a loan taken out? My story below...
Helping a friend since 2009 to claim back PPI on two loans with Lloyds TSB, we were successful in the bank upholding the claims and refunded my friend over £5k. We then understood that after accepting the money into the friend's account "ex gratis" (to quote the bank), that the PPI would be cancelled, and if my friend continued paying the full amount, the loan term would reduce.
Since 2009 my friend has continued paying the original amount each month expecting the term to reduce, however in a recent statement my friend has worked out that:
a). the PPI has not been removed and the loan amount reduced to the original amount.
b). the loan term has not reduced.
My friend has been phoning the bank to challenge this and was told that the bank do not see a problem. We challenged the bank again with another letter and they've just replied to the effect that the Bank paid the money to my friend's account so that he could pay back the bank the PPI.
Surely this is not correct - the bank mis-sold the PPI, they refund the PPI and remove the PPI off the loan. Not give my friend a sum of money for him then to pay the bank back the PPI.
We're both at the end of our tethers and would gladly welcome any advice/ thoughts from MSE posters.
Hi there, could you post up the actual wording of the letter from the bank offering the "ex gratia" payment.
It seems to me that they have given a payment for the ppi and expected your friend to pay this off the loan.
This does not look to be a mis sell refund with the usual redress,as Di said the bank do not seem to have reset the loan without the ppi.
Also,if you can get them will you post up the actual redress that your friend recieved?.
I just want to save you any more time contacting the bank about this,if you post up the details then we can help you more with this.

In a phone conversation with a rep from the bank, it was agreed to keep paying the orignal monthly amounts and the term would reduce. However, this isn't the case :mad:0
