Rang RBS/Natwest on Friday for a further update on a claim that has been on hold since October 2010. The information contradicted what I'd been told the week before. I received a letter on 11th May saying that complaints were being dealt with in chronological order. I rang on 19th May and they said the hold had been fully lifted. This confirmed the information in the letter. Anyway, spoke to a fella on Friday and he said that they were still waiting on their legal people to give the green light. He hoped this would be done next week and that the compliants could be dealt with quickly. He sounded as fed up as me. I asked about the letter and he said they had been sent in error. Asked about my other claim which is now ith ombudsman. Ajudicator went in my favour but RBS refused to respond due to JR. I asked could they review it as it would be sorted quicker than with ombudsman. He said to call a fella called Peter Levy. However, the phone number did not work. Typical!
Might e-mail Mr Hester. However, Natwest take forever to respond through their main site, is there a quicker way?0 -

Hiya
Thanks for your update, and sorry to hear you and others are still waiting.
Yes do send them an email, explain your situation, tell them your getting fed up now with being told one thing then the other, this is just not fair to be treated this way as a loyal customer and so on, good luck.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Hi all, just a quick question, I am sure that this has been asked many times before. How do I go about finding out whether there actually was ppi on my previous loans/ credit cards? The statements have been long shredded. I don't even know the account numbers. I simply have a list of creditors from my credit report.
Thanks for all your help in advance

Hi there, was any of them with your bank?
If so call in speak to the manager and they will go through all the accounts you have taken out with them.
If you bank online, and still with the bank where your monthly loan repayments were debited, the loan account number may possibly be shown next to the monthly loan repayment, this should allow you to go back as far as 2002 or maybe earlier.
The only other way would be to SAR (request a subject request access), if all loans/credit cards with the same loan business/bank one SAR is sufficient, they should send all data on all accounts taken out with them, even though this is normally just for the last 6 years, some will come back with data going back to even earlier years.
If separate companies - then separate SAR's will have to be requested.
There is a template letter below link, enclose £10 cheque or postal order, and they have 40 calendar days to comply.
Tweak to your requirements if you want to.

However, if you've no account numbers, give them as many details as possible, this should be all names/old surnames if changed over the years, date of birth, addresses and so on.
Hope this helps, good luck. The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Hi
My dad took out a loan for approx £7000 with the Alliance & Leicester sometime around 2003/2004. We dont have the original paperwork as the loan was cleared in 2007. What we do remember is writing to them a few months after the loan had started asking to cancel the PPi, as my dad realised he didn't actually need it but they wrote back saying he was unable to cancel it. Would he have a case to try reclaiming, even though we don't have any of the paperwork?
Any advice will be greatly appreciated!!0 -

Hi there
Yes you can, by just having the account number will help.
However in regards of cancellation even though realistically your dad has the right to cancel at anytime, many wait for the matter to be resolved in reclaiming.
I take it then even though you have no paperwork - your dad still has the account number?
If so then continue to make the reclaim with his reasons by completing the questionnaire on step 3 below, keep copies and send one to the head office or complaints dept of whoever sold him the loan.
Allow 8 weeks for a decision.
