    Thanks Di,

I think I will get the papers out tomorrow and send a letter. We didn't really have any objection to them putting a PPI on the loan while we owed the bank money, and probably still don't, it was more that they continued taking the payments for the PPI 2 years after we paid off the loan. As you say, a quick letter can't harm, and good to see that others have been successful from before the 6 year limit if the circumstances warranted it.

    thanks for post, Sal x

    Hi Sal

    Your most welcome.

Yes go got it, you've nothing to lose, please let us know how you get on, fingers crossed. Cheers.;)

    Hiya

I have just added a bit more info for you in RED, hope it helps, and anything else you want to add to support your reclaim, give as much info as possible, good luck.:)

Hi Dizzy thanks for your advise. I am not sure what to do now? I think i will send them back a letter explaining my claim is against PPI sold on my loan & not my overdraft?

    Hiya

What I would do personally is, either write a letter to explain that your reclaim was in regards of a loan ppi and nothing at all to do with an overdraft, do you have the loan account number? (and didn't accidentally give them the bank account number).
And ask them to continue to look at your previous letter and enclose the loan account number of the loan ppi you want to make a reclaim on.

    Or

Start afresh by writing a brand-new letter reclaim - give details of the loan account number, your reasons for making a reclaim, ask they get back with a decision by 8 weeks.

Or optionally complete the reclaim questionnaire as on stage one below.

Remember to keep copies of all you send and receive as well - in case you need to refer back to it again at some point.

Hope this helps.:D;) Good luck x

Hiya and thanks again for your help. Yes i gave them my bank account number & not the loan number. I unfortunately do not have any paper work regarding the loan, i was only 19 when i took it out & was only interested in the money lol so kept no paper work. All i have is 6 years worth of bank statements from when i successfully won a excessive bank charge claim a few years ago. Do you think i will be able to take it further without knowing the loan account number???

    Thanks again.

    Hiya

If the loan was still being paid for over the last 6 to 8 years, and you still bank with the bank you were paying the monthly repayments with, its possible you may find the loan account number next to the monthly loan repayment on the statements, and/or if you bank online, this may allow you to go back maybe up to the last 8 years.

What year did you settle the loan?

Another suggestion would otherwise be a Subject Access Request (SAR) to request for your data.
They have 40 calendar days to comply and send you copies of all data they have held on your account(s).
So if this is your bank and you taken out loans/credit cards etc with them, a SAR should include all copies of your data of what you have taken out, for this you do only need to supply your bank account number.
But you enclose £10 cheque or postal order for this request, and there is a template letter below you can use, but tweak if you need to.
    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/1475553

Normally though they only go back the last 6 years, but again last year I received data from a SAR request from 2001 plus, and I understand some people have received data going back to even earlier years.

Hi again i took the first loan out in Feb 2000 and my last payment was April of 2003 due to a couple of non payments making it run a couple of extra months. My second loan started straight after my last payment in May of 2003, this loan was done over the phone. The second loan ended in July 2006 again it over ran a couple of months for non payments. Ive looked at the repayments for the first loan & there is a 8 digit number against each one. But on the repayments for the second loan there is a 15 digit number but only against the first 2 payments. I am hoping these are the loan account numbers????

    Hiya

These are quite possible the account numbers, if it differs to the actual bank account number.
I would write back - as you stated in your earlier post, and make them aware that your complaint was in regards of loan ppi and nothing at all to do with an overdraft.
Give them as many details as possible in order for them to track down the details of the loan, even what you were paying a month would be a help, and of course those numbers you found would help too.;)

    Hi Alex and welcome

Did you receive a final decision letter with suggestions of the Financial ombudsman service (FOS)?
If not then give it a go on making the reclaim again.

Its possibly going to be a case they will have to re-open and pay out anyway, but you can always start the ball rolling yourself.

Good luck and please keep us posted.

    Thanks for the reply!

I have since found out they had not supplied me with the correct information regarding the PPI and I had not signed their document stating that they had explained and given me the information. Would this count as a fresh complaint or would they use the final decision as their excuse?

    Thanks again

    Hi there

Well you can either bring it up that your complaint was not dealt with correctly in regards of the PPI reclaim and due to this you know wish to have this investigated as a new complaint, or start again as a fresh complaint by not mentioning any of the above, and complete the reclaim questionnaire which replaced the template letter.

A final decision they would normally enclose details of the financial ombudsman service (FOS) to give you the opportunity to take your complaint to them.;)
