As amersall says, take your complaint to the ones who set up your account, as they were the ones who arranged it, its them responsible.
Good luck, keep at them and please keep us posted, cheers.;)

    Hi Linda
No worries, we have all been there.:)

There is a reclaim questionnaire in place of the template letter, issued by the Financial ombudsman service (FOS), this is to save time later on, such as if your not happy with the final outcome of your complaint.
    So keep copies as well.
The questionnaire you will find on stage one of reclaiming here.

I would also suggest as well to post by recorded/signed for delivery.;)

I took a loan out with Tescos in 2007 which is due to end next year. This was used to refinance and pay off 2 credit cards, an overdraft and an existing Tesco loan. They gave me 2 rates of interest. 1 was for the loan with PPI and the other was for the loan without PPI. The difference on the repayments was something in the region of £5 per month and I was strongly encouraged to take out the PPI loan. £235 vs £240 per month. Do I have a case?

    Hi there

You should not have been forced/pressurised into taking out the ppi, this is matter of choice, yet its known that this is one of the common complaints.
You can give it a go with your reasons by just completing the questionnaire, the reclaim questionnaire replaced the template letter on this site.
Complete and send to whoever set up and sold you the policy, keep copies of everything in case you need to go back to your case at some point, and they have 8 weeks to give a decision.

The questionnaire - below stage one of reclaiming, good luck.

  • Looking for some advice please on PPI.

My girlfriend (genuinely, it is not me ;)) has got into some financial trouble with 5x credit cards and 1x store card, I lent her the money and now they are all paid off and closed.

There is an horrendous amount of charges on them £1.8k from 2 so far :( . I have started the ball rolling with reclaiming charges etc and have asked for the details of all charges. I have got 2 back so far and there is PPI on them both, she does not remember taking this out, one is over 6 years ago the other 5 years. How do I proceed on this the article on here is a little unclear? If you cannot remember how it was sold how can you claim for it to be missold?

Also thrown into the mix is the fact she she was off work sick from June 09 to Jan 10 and did not claim as she did not know she could. Can she still claim? What do these policies pay out? Is it the minimum monthly repayment or something else? The reason I ask this is card A to reclaim would be £276, the minimum payments due over the period above were £865 so a potential claim would yeild more than miselling, card B is the other way round £685 misselling, minimum payments £300.

I would be grateful if someone could answer some of the above questions.

    Hi there,

If you have the account number, you can continue to make a reclaim on the PPI.
There is no harm in trying despite it being sold to you in the 90's, as I am aware there have still be success - even from reclaiming from them etc.

If you do want to request for the agreement (although I am not sure if they will still hold these details), you can just write a simple letter of your own and request they send you a copy of your agreement by 12 days, enclose a £1 cheque or postal order.

Or just continue with the reclaiming, and see if they send you a copy back with a letter anyway.
However, even if they refund for the last 6 years (that's if they do not hold any other data beyond that) is still some success, as it soon adds up, although it would be nice if they still held details going back to 1994.

    To make a reclaim:

Complete the reclaim questionnaire - this replaced the template letter on this site, and was issue by the Financial ombudsman service (FOS) to save time later on, so keep a completed copy in case you need to complain to the FOS later on, such as if your not happy with the final outcome.
They have 8 weeks to make a decision, but may ask for more time.

    Questionnaire - stage one here.

Even though usually you go back the last 6 years, as stated many have still been successful in making reclaims from earlier years.

    Hope this helps, good luck.

    Dizzy,

Thanks very much for the advice. I've used the templates and will be sending the letters off ASAP. Hopefully I'll be able to post a success at some point in the future!

    Regards

You need to get a copy of the insurance agreements from the companys, they should be able to give you these, to see if sickness was covered, if it was then do as i say below.

I would be grateful if someone could answer some of the above questions.
I think, as the cc are settled they may not give the option of putting a sickness claim in and it may have to be mis sell.

Personally i think, she should ring them, tell them that had she known about the ppi then she would have claimed for sickness on this, and as the cards are settled now she has not had that choice and would like to put a claim in about that as well. If they get arsey about it threaten them with FOS.

If she goes mis sell, take a look here for other reasons.
