  • Hello

    new to this.

I was called by We Fight Any Claim yesterday saying they can claim back PPI on my mortgage as well as on Credit Cards. Is this correct and how do you go about it? Is it a scam?
They are asking for an upfront fee of about £1300 and 30% of any claim received. I'm not sure if the £1300 is included in the 30%.
They also said they can go back 15 years!!
I have stalled them by asking them to call back next week.

What if you don't have any details to back up your claim?

I would be grateful for any advice.

    Hi and welcome

If you've been mis sold then personally I would have a go yourself and not bother using a claims company, I am aware lots have had problems using them, so always be careful.;)

They only do what we do here, check the link below to more info, a checklist and how to make a reclaim if eligible etc, you pursue the ones who sold and set up your loan accounts by sending a reclaim questionnaire or a letter of your own words to either their head office of complaints dept if they have one.
Keep copies of all you send and receive in case you need to refer to this again at some point.

They have 8 weeks, but may ask for more time, but should keep you informed in writing.
Hope this helps and good luck.

Hi there...Di is spot on there...these companies don't do any more than we do on our own...but fees are huge ( 30%) and the communication is poor...

I was afraid to do this on my own..(before I found this forum..and all the help and support it provides)...so I took on a compay to do it for me...they ceased trading...( another clue?) and I heard from a new company who had taken them over...which meant starting AGAIN from scratch.!

When I took over my own claims, in the correspondence I received from the banks...were copies of letters sent to this company , allegedly looking after my interests...some six months old!!! I had never seen them!!

I think this shows that if it is my money...it is up to me to pursue any claims!

Thanks again to all, especially Di ,:A for help and guidance...it is tough fighting against the banks...they are intimidating...but it is our money!!

I cannot agree enough. Folk here are very helpful, and are at pains to point you in the right direction, if you need it! No question is ever too 'silly' to ask! Shy bairns get nowt, after all! I'm helping my partner with four of his PPI claims - the template's are straightforward and it's actually empowering to take control of something and right those wrongs! :D

Hi everyone hope someone can help?????

I received an email from a company asking if i wanted them to try to claim back my PPI. I had not heard of this before so looked on here to find out more. I successfully won back £1,000 for unfair bank charges about 3 years ago by following this site so knew not to use one of these companies.

I have no loan agreements from Barclay's but have statements going back from 2000 to 2006 in which time i had 2 loans. I have made a spreadsheet & noted all the payments & this is what i have found.

    Loan 1

    2000 to 2003 loan of £4,300 in which i paid off £5,395 in 3 years (£142.66 a month)

    Loan 2

    2003 to 2006 loan of £3,500 in which i paid off £5,665 in 3 years (£148.85 a month)

I am quite sure loan 2 was offered to me over the phone once loan 1 had finished. I am sure i took out PPI as i remember the advisor pushing me into it in case i lost my job, i was only 20 at the time therefore i just wanted the money!!!!

    So my question are:

    1. Are the loans too old?
    2. Have i been paying PPI?
    3. Ultimately do i have a case?
    4. If so how do i work out how much i could claim for?
I hope someone can help, Tony.

    Hello there

First of all, personally I would not use a claims company, but would have a go yourself, they only do what we do from the info on here anyway, and if successful you get to keep all your refund.

However, firstly, do you know if you were mis sold?
I have had successful reclaims from older loans, and many others have still been successful from claims made from the 90's etc.

Bascially I would check the mis selling list as well to see if any of them apply to you. Being pressurised is at least one reason.

You do not have to write down the amounts when making a reclaim, but if you lack any paperwork, you can try requesting for these by requesting a Subject Access Request (SAR).

However, as long as you have your account number and reasons, you can still continue to make a reclaim.

More details below, and please ask for further help if required, to make a reclaim its just a matter of completing the reclaim questionnaire, this replaced the template letter on this site, but you can of course write a letter of your own words instead if you want to.
You send to whoever set up and sold you the loan from the start, either to their head office or if they have a complaints dept.
Remember to keep copies of all you send and receive in case you need to refer back to them at some point.
They normally have 8 weeks but may ask for more time.

If the banks win their case in the JR (just supposing) does that mean we will be unable to make claims against mis selling of PPI? Or will it just affect certain claims? We don't have to wait long now but they will probably find something else to stall over.

    Hiya

Been checking for into on this out of curiosity as well, but check the link below.....

    http://www.walletpop.co.uk/2010/10/11/bad-news-for-ppi-mis-selling-claims/

this below is stated on the bottom paragraph of the above link, scary but hopefully it will be a fair decision to us who have ongoing reclaims, fingers crossed.

"If the banks win this review, your chances of getting compensation will drop dramatically, so it's worth getting your complaint in quickly, so you stand a chance of a payout before the review is decided.

However this is resolved, there will be one big group of people lamenting how unfair it is. This is your chance to make sure you're not in that group".
