Hello,
I have two outstanding PPI claims with FOS - both I think will ultimately be successful, very appreciative of this site - thank you - I am however very frustrated at the length of time it is taking to process the claims. I'm sure Martin already has this covered, however I believe this should be taken up with the Government for action to resolve. I am not blaming FOS, from my dealings they are doing a good job, however believe the claims running to be significant, meaning a huge workload to deal with. In my opinion they should either be given additional resource or the Government should intervene with the Banks/Financial Institutions - perhaps directed under a a blanket instruction to pay out - perhaps years x to y as an example ? I cannot believe in this climate - essentially post our bail out of the Banking industry that the same very institutions are doing this - essentialy in my opinion deliberately dragging their heals in the process. I think its time the banks woke up to the fact that this Country will simply never be the same in terms of our dealings with them. This issue would be one ofset to us the consumer post our signficant assistance to them. After all significant parts of this Country will be paying out for this for years to come.
Nb - a now very hard pressed, lucky to have a job, significantly worse off (pay freeze), (awaiting a pension hit) - public sector worker :-(0 -
Hi guys,
After checking our joint account bank statement, I saw two versions of insurance coming out. I called my bank to check which was which (so I could see if I could get them cheaper elsewhere) and found out one is home insurance and the other is PPI. We got these as part of our mortgage package 3 and a half years ago, but I was under the impression that the PPI was actually personal accident insurance.
Do you think I have a case to reclaim? Or is it a case of me misunderstanding, as all I can remember is that they said 'it'll help cover your mortgage payments if you have an accident'. My husband didn't take out the same policy, as he has life insurance through his work.
Your advice is appreciated.0 -

Hi Emma
Hopefully someone will clarify on this for you, but if you think you were mis sold on the ppi for some reason give it a go.
Do you mind me asking though besides the mortgage protection with this one, did you have a stand alone cover for this as well?
There is no point really in having the 2 going if its for the same thing.
Maybe Dunstonh will know more on this and will post up some info soon, good luck.
Meanwhile more on reclaiming below.

Hi,
Can anyone help me please???
Does anyone know which insurance provider provided the PPI cover for Welcome Finance loans in 2003??
I had 3 seperate loans with them and they have paid out on 2 which is great however the 3rd one they claim it is the responsibility of the Insurance company not Welcome themselves.
Questionnaire sent to FOS and they have replied advising they will persue through the insurance provider direct however they need to know who it was. I have copies of my original loan agreement from Welcome but there is no mention of the insurer.
Just called Welcome and after being on hold for 45 minutes they have said that if i contact the FOS they need to contact Welcome to discuss however the FOS are asking me who the insurer is! I feel that i'm onto a no winner here so if anyone has any info on the insurance provider for Welcome from 2003 then it would be greatly appreciated x0 -

Hi there
Its been suggested to many of us to take the insurer/underwriter direction and what you do is write to the lender and ask them to send you the policy document of the Payment Protection Insurance through the post, its all enclosed in that paperwork of the insurer, this is something you normally have to request for separately as they do not always enclose these details with the copies of the paperwork they send you when you taken out the loan.
So do what i did and write to them to request for this document, ask they post by 14 days. Good luck. The one and only "Dizzy Di"0
