I got a call yesterday from Loan and finance Taylors, from a lady who assures me I am owed a total of £20,000 from missold PPIs on a mortgage I took out in 1995, and a top up loan in the next year, with Abbey National. Seems they are FSA regulated and all, but I then discovered she wants £299 upfront to cover legal fees. Anyone else had this - is it a scam? She says my details are on a government database of people who have been missold PPIs. Sounds too good to be true - so it probably is...
Hi and welcome Deb
Good you posted up to check on this.
Claims companies tell everyone they have a claim, but to be honest I would not bother, if you was mis sold then i would give it a go yourself, with help from this site all free, and its only what they do anyway.

Dunstonh on here will be able to give advice on reclaiming mortgage ppi, so if you do think you may have a case, keep on these threads, but start your own individual and subject it as "mortgage ppi help", dunstonh will be sure to see this and come along to give some help on this for you.
But again, many on here who have used claims companies, have had no end of hassle, so if you do have a case, please do have a go yourself with help from this thread.
Good luck.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

Hi there, I think this only applies to the main banks.
I understand if successful claims have been made - it can be difficult to prove it was mis sold, but yet some have been successful in making reclaims for the remainder, depending on the reasons you have.
I would check Martin's guide below, and if you think you have a case, then go for it.

Loans.co.uk is owned by MBNA isn't it... not heard of MBNA holding back complaints but nothing would surprise me with any of them.0

I received a letter from the FOS saying that Blackhourse had agreed to make a offer to settle my complaint regarding the PPI policy, I signed the form 4 weeks ago and sent it back to the FOS but not heard anything since, does anyone think my claim will be put on hold?.0

Hi Davie
Well done!
They will or should not hold back on paying this out to you, the hold backs are only those of new complaints.
Give them a ring and ask them of when you should be expecting your refund, they should be able to confirm.
Good luck.
